BACfest 2017 NEW BEDFORD reserve your room now !!!!!!!

Paul,

I'll have to take you under my wing again to keep you from harm and expense.
Martha's Vineyard is only 15 minutes via Sierra from KEWB. The bus goes by the airport and will take you anywhere you want to go (on the many routes) using a day pass. The trip home may take 20 minutes as you will want to spend more time looking at the sunset over Buzzard's Bay and Narragansett Bay.

Extend your stay at the Hampton Inn for $109pn as we negotiated with them. (Rate today, a month later than BACFest, is $169). Check out the hotel rates on The Vineyard or Nantucket! The best buy I saw today 10/18 was in and old place in Vineyard Haven. For 3 nights the deal without breakfast was $777.

Didn't look at Nantucket.

We're booked for the 19th through 24th. Looking forward to it.
btw: No more non-suite king bed rooms left in our block of rooms.

Booked our room today from Tuesday through Sunday. Want to see some of the things Tom has mentioned. Will be driving as we want to stop at Delaware Water Gap, Bridgeport, and Mystic.

There are still plenty of rooms left at Hampton though the king-bed option at our price ($109) may now be exhausted.

No one remembers a BACFest with so many early reservations. This, in my opinion, is due to the wonderful things to do in southeast Massachusetts... propelled in large measure by the great time had by all at Branson last month. Chris Nowak set a high standard. Branson was fun! Of course, so was Dubuque.

It will be tough to top those BACFests but the day trips planned before/after 2017 are vacations in themselves... Martha's Vineyard, Boston, Battleship Cove, Cape Cod, Newport Rhode Island and (ugh) shopping. Even the Beech Babes are talking about this.

Make reservations now - yes a year ahead - as we may have to set up a second hotel. Next best price in the area was $40/$60pn more.

Guests may reserve by calling the hotel directly and referring to the Beech Aero Club Block, or online at www.newbedfordfairhaven.hamptoninn.com , or by calling 1-800-HAMPTON and referring to Group/Convention code BAC.

I know very well that organizingva BACFEST is a lot of work, and also very rewarding to show so many friends the great places that we like to fly to locally. It looks like all the early planning on Tom and the Board has done is paying off with the early sign ups. And Fall in New England is just plain great. So much of our country's early history revolves around Boston that for history buffs there is a lot to do. Remember the real Tea Party? And the whaling industry was a driving force way back then, centered in New England ports.
I spent some very fun years working in seasonal jobs in the area. Painting boats and short order cooking on Martha's Vineyard alternating with Ski area winter jobs in Mass or Vermont made for a great way to avoid school.
Now you have set up a lot of flying options to go along with the history and a great bunch of pilot friends. What a PISSAH! Every BACFEST that I have attended has helped me feel like a better BAC member, kept some strong friendships grow, and encouraged me to go stretch my wings to a new bunch of destinations. Thanks Tomandnthe rest of you for setting up a great trip to look forward to!

Paul,

Thanks for your kind words.
Of course as our club safety officer I know you have to take a conservative stance.
Yes, you have agreed to guide the way to BACFest 2017 by doing a seminar on flying the Hudson River Exclusion past New York City.
Soon I hope to warm you up to embracing the "3 State Challenge" enroute with a landing on an island runway 2,300' long. Or maybe the runway that's 1,700'.

2300ft? You've got 2300ft? Boy, I wish I had that kind of luxury at home (W13-2000ft!)

ROOMS ARE BEING BOOKED. STILL KING ROOMS AVAILABLE.

Hampton Inn New Bedford/Fairhaven has indicated today 10/25/16 that 20 rooms have already been booked.
That's 11 months in advance! Wow.

Some king bed rooms are still available at $109. Double rooms are still plentiful at $109.
King suite rooms are available at $139.

Many members are "Arriving Early and Staying Late" based upon the bookings we see for the two days before BACFest.

If you hesitate you may not be lost but you will miss the really great hotel deal available right now.

I booked my rooms last week and they said there were no more king rooms at the discount. How many rooms are available for our BACFest? I'm thinking we will need double what have been booked so far.

Mike,
My message below #33 is official from the hotel.
I suggest you call them again if something needs adjustment.
