BACFest 2024

If you need road assistance, let me know as we might use the same route. I can even offer the back seat on my motorcycle ;-)
Overnight for me in Klamath Falls tonight heading to Crater Lake tomorrow before I will reach Bend tomorrow.
You are on my route, but I am way behind you. I should see Klamath about 1pm tomorrow. Give or take a bit.

Robin and I are in Bend now. We’re going to the Newberry Volcano caldera in the morning and expect to be back at the Waypoint by mid afternoon.

Jack, we might run into each other, the caldera is also on my route today. Look out for a man in black (no, it's not Johnny Cash) on a black Harley, that's probably me.
CU soon!

For all the inbound pilots arriving at KBDN, a couple pointers.
KBDN is the 3rd busiest airport in Oregon! Third to PDX and Hillsboro. We have considerable student pilot traffic, both fixed wing and helicopter. KBDN has anyone 1 runway, 34/16. The helicopter traffic stays on the East side of the airport and fixed wing on the West. This means that using Rwy 16 requires right hand traffic, Rwy 34 uses a left hand pattern. There are occasional instances when you are turning base to final at the same time a helicopter is doing the same so make sure you keep your eyes outside the airplane, and do not overshoot your base leg and report your position throughout the traffic pattern.
You will turn off the runway to the West and head towards the FBO.... keep a watch for a true Beech Nut riding an electric scooter who will escort you to your parking spot!Follow Me.jpg

Not the way I wanted to arrive at BACFest 2024, but “We’re Here”! Looking forward to seeing everyone!

There are a lot worse ways to arrive! I hope all goes well and everyone has a great time at BACFest the year!

Made it home safe. A great event. John and Karen hosted a great BACFest. I particularly enjoyed the EPIC Aircraft Factory tour and the two Museums (one aviation, one local). Great food and the Deschutes Brewery Tour were incredible. We had a humorous and outgoing guide who spent some time teaching us how to taste beer on top of everything else. Congratulations to all the members who made the effort to lead, attend events and work and were recognized with awards. I enjoyed making a few new friends, catching up with some from the past and missing some I wish were there.

I can only repeat what has been said already by others: this BACFest was (again) worth all the travel!
I made it (almost) back home, presently in Seal Beach, Ca. I will leave the rest of the travel to the pros.
It has been 2000 miles of scenic travel, really chilly first and really hot at the end.
Thank you John and Karen for all the work you've done and all the other helping hands. I had so much fun with all of you! 👍👎

Peter and Leili got home on Monday evening. We spent Sunday driving back to Seattle, with a five hour stop to check out the Evergreen Aviation Museum (I got to sit in the left seat of the Spruce Goose... Yeah !!). Overnighted at SEATAC before returning to Toronto via commercial flight Monday morning.

We had a great time. Thank you John and Karen for making this a fabulous event.... and giving us the excuse to visit a part of the USA that we might otherwise never get to.

Peter

Another BACFest is in the books! Thank you to all members (including 3 first timers) who attended and helped make this a memorable event.
Karen has put together another PowerPoint BACFest 2024 Highlights (click the link) to wrap up the memories and remind us of the fun that was had by all.
Enjoy!

Hi Joe.
BACFest 2025 was announced at our Awards Dinner last Saturday night. BACFest 2025 will be in Lock Haven PA. Sept. 17-Sept. 21, 2025

John

Jane and I left Bend for Port Angeles WA where we had a great time visiting friends there. BACFest2024 was fabulous. John and Karen did a fantastic job on this year’s event. We’ve enjoyed it and all the members very much. Thank you. We’ve now finally arrived back home a day earlier (3am here) then planned so as to prep for the hurricane Helena that’s headed up through Georgia. It’ll be a tropical storm by the time it gets to us, but probably will take some trees down in these mountains! Again, we enjoyed BACFest a lot and look forward to the next one.

BAC Fest 2025 will be at Lock Port, PA. Beech, Cessna, Taylor and Piper were all the last names of contemporaries in the aviation Developement evolution. The Piper Museum is just one for the local attractions. Lycoming will hopefully be on the schedule and lots of other local aviation and other interesting things. Maybe including Gettysburg and Hersey Park.

It will be hosted by the Regional Director, Robert Staab, Tom Corcoran, Harvey Daan and I.

September 17-21st.

We will provide k formation about rooms soon. Since this is around d the football season for Penn State, booking early will be important.

I am currently booked at the Marriott Fairfield there as I have a ton of Bonvoy Points.
