Margie and I will fly commercial to Chicago. Then, rent a car and take 3 or 4 days looking around as tourists on the drive to Dubuque, which is only 3 1/2 hours away.
We will now start to search the highlights of Illinois attractions for guidance. Anyone interested in joining this extended adventure should contact us.

I must be blind, but I don't see a link to register even though the information on BACFest is great. If it is there, it needs to be more obvious.

Careful Marty, the south side is famous because of a song, not its real reputation. That is where I grew up, and still have family there. Great City and a lot of things to do. Considering a 3 week trip to see relatives in San Antonio, BAC fest and on to family in Chicago. Have to see how it all fits in the schedule.

Looks like if I attend it will be only on Saturday, we'll see. Sitting in a confrence room listening to people argue policy sounds to much like my M-F schedule... LOL.

Aaron, The policy meetings are not so bad. If you get in Friday night you can go on the cruise .Saturday morning you can recover :). The policy meetings shouldn't bore you. Usually they are educational and fun.You would be surprised what you learn . Years back I had a member from Arizona tell me how to get an extra 5 knots out of my Sundowner . He gave Rap the same advice and he was able to get 20 knots more (he bought a Grumman :)). Seriously ,we have a lot of fun . Yes Marty , I am a brave man behind the keyboard.

If you haven't reserved your room or registered yet I would strongly recommend it . We are at 35 registrations so far. Please book your room if you have not done that yet.

my wife is trying to talk me into taking off a couple of wks after the BACFest and going out there by RV and spending some time with friends in Montana and So. Dakota...so, my question is --are there any nice rv parks near/close to the airport and hotel. Not sure if this is what I want to do..was planning on fly my Sundowner out and already have hotel reservations, so just looking to keep her happy.

Why not fly to visit your So Dak friends and those Montana cowboys? You could fly to Rapid City with us. Montana is a day trip from S.D. On the way home, your Sundowner will probably make Sierra speed due to the prevailing winds. I'd bet the overall cost of fuel and hotels would be equal or less than a 9 mpg motor home. I'd do the math first and see if exposing yourselves in a RV on America's motorways is worth the risk.
