This is a relay a bunch of us are participating in for fun. The objective is to touch all 48 CONUS. There are a few items handed off at each stop.


At the rate it's moving, hopefully you'll have a plane when it gets to the Midwest. I'm at Lake of the Ozarks often. It'd be cool if you could hand off to me there. We are slim on participants in the Midwest.

I would love to join you.. Sounds like fun... But a lot of things has to happen first before I can do that. May take you up on it sometime in the future.
 
If I knew how... I would put this on the relay map. Someone will help please.

However, the BAC Relay Bear has advanced in the Northeast Region.

Rob Staab took it from New Jersey to Ken Cook in Connecticut and that has been posted. However in the last few days Jean Cook, Ken Cook and Tom Corcoran helped the Bear touch down in more states.

FLY-IN

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 16, 2021 at Springfield, Vermont.

"The Bear Moves On Fly-In" at (KVSF) Harness State Airport at noon. All welcome to join the arrival of the BAC Relay Bear to another state in the BAC Northeast Region.

Airboss-of-Vermont Larry Perry receives our well travelled bear from Massachusetts. He will make plans to pass it off to New York on its journey across the United States. Supervising all this important aviation activity (in person) will be Fred Culleton from Georgia who is the club organizer for the relay. Be there for the hand-off; the memories; the raw emotion. There might even be a bite to eat.

Proof. The relay bear got to Springfield, Vermont. Larry Perry the Airboss of Vermont stands between Ken Cook and Tom Corcoran on November 18th. The ride out of Massachusetts was aborted due to rough winds. Then a mechanical problem. However, the bear and banner and other documents got there via 1B9 KLZD KVSF. Next stop is New York. 
 
The Beech Bear has moved on to New York state!

Thanks to Pat and Nancy Long, plus an assist from their pup Piper, the Long's picked up Beech Bear this morning and it has now made it to the Finger Lakes Region of central New York.

Pretty neat watching them arrive at VSF this morning. Their '83 Sundowner, N6552G, has the same paint scheme as our '83 Sundowner, N65503, and the two airplanes are serial numbers M-2385 and M-2378...darn near  identical twins. Pictures attached.IMG_2437.jpegIMG_1991.jpeg

Beech Bear has already made a couple of stops in Pennsylvania, so it looks like the next closest state is Ohio. 

Do we have an Ohio BAC'er willing to make the flight to New York for the next hand off? Please contact Pat Long so we can keep the Bear moving!

What has been your route of flight in the relay so that I may get it recorded correctly?
 
Bumping thread again since it's been another 2 weeks and we still don't know where the bear is. It's going to be 3 months before long.

It's just a little frustrating because I thought it seemed like a really cool undertaking so I invested the time in keeping an accurate map updated, in near real time, for hype to keep it going and posterity for the club.

This forum platform is totally unconventional and very hard to use (I think we lost Rap to that) but it's making me wonder if we lost this very cool undertaking due to the same issue.

Here's to hoping we can complete this fun challenge after an unexplained 10+ week hiatus. 
 
I am part of the delay, here. The bear and I are about 2.5 hours apart.  We have been close a couple of times to meet but work schedules, daylight and weather intervene (more for me than Pat).  Last attempt in early February saw the target airports closed due to weather. The bear is at KPEO, I'm at I43.  If we have someone between us with a more flexible weekday and weekend schedule, it may get the bear moving easier.  I am free most weekends and Pat may be more available during the week.

anyone around Ohio that can help move the bear along

my understanding is it’s with Pat in New York (KPEO)

maybe get it moved towards Ohio Indiana Illinois to get it going again

would be greatly appreciated!!
 
If unable to move by our planes

Frederal Express to next guy snd we will double back later snd get states missed

or Send to Nelson Amen in Texas snd let him get states in his area then we will double back

The weather in upstate New York looks like it is starting to break. More and more VFR days are on the horizon. I have the bear and the secret suitcase, and I'm ready to meet someone to move the bear to its next destination. I think we were looking at someone from Ohio to meet me.
