BAC Fest 2007

Weather permitting, Jennifer and I will leave tomorrow morning. Looks like the only weather we have is between Milwaukee and Chicago, and from then on smooth sailing. We expect to be at CRE about supper time on Monday as well.

Got the Sundowner oil changed, waxed, windows cleaned, our failing tach back in and our out-of-spec OBS adjusted - what else could go wrong?? Even got the ADF working, much to my dismay. My partner agreed to pull it out if we couldn't get if going again. Oh, well, I'll keep trying.

I was able to convice all that I needed to be at the annual meeting SO... I'm flying down on Friday morning and retuning after the meeting. Better that than nothing !! See y'all there !! If there is ANYONE in the area that would like a ride down and or back to attend the meeting, let me know and I'll pick you up !

Sheesh, Bob,
Don't even ASK that question!
As to the ADF, pull the breaker and tell him: "See, it's dead." 8)

Looks like the gathering is well underway! I'm watching the weather from Salt Lake and it isn't looking too great.

From AOPA's site here is the 24 hour outlook:

Here is 48 hours out:

Finally here is 72 hours out:

Of course these are forecasts but I have to make a decision pretty quick. Right now I'd have to say I'll be flying in on Delta rather than "Air-Sierra."

Continued good luck to all flying in! I'll see you there one way or another!

When I saw clouds and Tstorms in the forecast all week I should have guessed that meant the NERD got his cylinders back in :P . See all y'all on Tuesday courtesy of US Air!

Ann and I plan to be "Beech-bound" by 10 AM Monday morning. Should arrive by 1 PM.

For all the early birds, let's plan on cocktails at 5, if not sooner!

Brad

You'll have to save one for us, we probably won't get there until 6 or 7 PM. Depends on the visibility leaving Milwaukee (mist is forecast for early AM).

Steve and Sharmalie will be rolling in a day early as well on Tuesday, should arrive around noon. See ya there.

We were planning on a 9-9:30 departure, but right now, we would have to file IFR to get out of the driveway. We'll depart as soon as the visibility improves. Arriving Wed afternoon, see y'all then.

I should be there about 7pm or so. Waiting for a part to arrive FedEx today to get me going. Had a nice oil leak in the oil pressure gauge hose that ruined a good pair of shoes. :( See ya'll soon.

We are still at home under a solid overcast at ~1000'. Forecasts for AL and GA are crap for Wed and Thursday. So, .............

We are still here.

Well, my trip has taken me from Killeen, Texas to Pensacola, Florida, to Key West Florida, to Kissimmee, Florida. I plan on taking off tomorrow from Kissimme around noonish to head for BAC tommorrow. See you all there.

Made it here after part arrived. Nice smooth flight at 3500 from TLH while others were complaining about bumpy rides higher.

We are here

Well we made it to Myrtle Beach and pretty much on time based on the original schedule. Sorry for not reporting in more often, but my internet access was difficult in Kansas and I left the phone (my modem) in the aircraft at 34A last night.

We left Kansas yesterday into a 900 foot ceiling and were ifr on top at 7000 most of the way out of Kansas and then in and out across the first half of the state. The thunderstorm wealthy front was shearing along our route and between the nexrad display and a little help from the controller we actually had a pretty nice ride through the front. Then we were in and out of stuff until pretty close to Upper Cumberland Tennessee.

We had made a call to Mike R. and asked about stopping in at 34A on the way and arrived late in the afternoon on Monday. We worked on the Duchess much of the day and fixed the heater, adjusted a door pin as well as completing some simple things Mike suggested as improvements.

Mike's hospitality is legendary within the group and I can attest that nothing is exagerated. It was a good stop for us to make.

We flew on this afternoon to Myrtle Beach. IFR for some of the trip again. We have only had two VFR legs since leaving California and all IFR legs included "actual" instrument conditions.

We had a great dinner tonight meeting many familiar names for the first time and look forward to many more this week.

Fly safe.

21 are in town as of Tuesday evening. Watching for today's arrivals. The vans will be running between KCRE and The Caravelle as needed, until 5 PM. If we're not already at the airport, the FBO has our cell phones to call.

Opening reception begins at 5 PM tonight (Wednesday) in the Nina Room above the restaurant at The Caravelle.

Anyone arriving after 5 PM today, if you're not renting a car, the FBO will call a cab for you.

See you in Myrtle Beach.

WOW! Great event again this year! Well done Digger and Brad. A round of applause to all that made the effort to be there. Some tried and couldn't make it but you were with us in spirit!

I enjoyed meeting some more members of BAC and seeing again the members I met last year. Hopefully we'll all be together next year at BAC Fest '08 in Santa Maria (KSMX).

Start making your plans now! Dan Jonas has some great things cooked up for the event and how can you not want to get some time off in California!

I made it home via Delta today and as I write this (sipping a fine chardonnay) it is snowing outside here in Utah! Talk about a change from the warm, humid air of Myrtle Beach!

Anyway, thanks again to everyone for attending. Thanks to Brad and Gary for a great job putting things together and we'll see you in California next year!

Ditto What Chris Said.

Great time, great people, great location. Great job Digger and Brad. Great to meet some new people and see some familiar faces.
We are sitting in Georgetown, KY. Visited the Kentucky Horse Farm this afternoon and will depart early in the morning for Wichita.

Already looking forward to next year.
