Across the USA-flight relay

Absolutely correct !! Fred give me a call and we can compare notes . I have been out of town and very busy with work. The AV30C Group buy has been fantastic so far also .
JP was going to do that
I had sent him a request but not sure if he got around to send email out

Leonard Lim is back at KFXE with BAC BANNER and JOURNAL and getting ready to fly First Leg of Relay to Mike Harding in KORL sometime end of next week or so

Nice talking with Fred yesterday . I will be working on a broadcast constant contact email. How about a new Ipad ( mini or regular) to be the the GPS device that travels with the banner and Logbook ? It will be preloaded with aviation software and capable of going live (BAC group Facebook page ,pictures and video going to the BAC icloud) All flights can be tracked and it can show where the banner and logbook is. At the end we can do a drawing among all those that participated in the event for it. I was initially thinking a phone but this might be better.

As long as the operation of such gizmo does not necessitates study. Do not load us with unneeded complications this is supposed to be fun!
The gizmo that someone suggested the Spot or whatever it was would work, I suspect besides turning it on nothing else is needed. You place an iPad in there with people that have little experience with that you create a problem.
My view of my mission is to take the "treasure" and hand it off to someone else (and I video so everybody can share), fiddling around with a computer when I am trying to get somewhere is not in line with fun. As a line pilot that flies cargo the only thing I am interested in is the flight. I don't want a distraction, it is literally unsafe.
Just sayin'

Well Noted !
I will let you know of the decision from Club
But I don’t think you need to do anything while in flight-but I could be wrong ...
I’m a yellow pad kind of guy

I am a lazy pilot, I used to get bugged when management would make me do paperwork. I wanna kick back drink Dr Pepper eat some candy bars and such. Makes a for a pleasant flight, or if I gotta deal with weather that can also be fun actually.

How about an inReach mini? They’re $225 with my discount, but there’d need to be a subscription while we were doing this relay, which could add up if it takes a while. But, it would certainly meet the tracking goal, and it’s a neat little B/U safety device to have both during the trip and as a prize.

Thanks for suggestion
JP another decision
Also, Bob Schmidt still has the Spot that he is willing to let us borrow!

I will ask TC if he would try and posted the proposed revised Relay Map and state sequencing sometime in next day or so

TC will post sometime soon !

Also, to answer a question ask to me by text

Any BAC Member can join in !!
Even if you on a different Brand Aircraft, even if you rent an airplane to join in or even if you get a friend to fly you—EVERY BAC MEMBER is encouraged to join in !!!!

The main Idea is to get As Many Members As Possible To Join In ...

Fred

Just received a call from JP
He is in the process of getting a new apple mini iPad to be passed on from pilot to pilot
Also will be hooking up with some aviation software to track flights
Expect to have in 2-3 weeks at which time I will get to our First Pilot out- Leonard Lim KFXE

Will keep all posted of progress and official start date !

Thanks JP 👍

Jeff-

I just landed in Springfield, Missouri (KSGF) this afternoon from Pottstown, PA 6 hours and 8 minutes total flying time... I am not based here but come here several times a year... (I used to be based here...)
Good to hear. I'd be glad to meet down there. That could easily get us to and from Iowa. The leg that looks most concerning considering that is west of me.
