Update on 8/22/13 - Forty-three registered now for BACFest - Virginia Beach

About a month to go and 43 are registered for BACFest. Just a reminder, the reduced group rate at the hotel expires August 22. If you haven't booked your room, don't miss out on the opportunity to save. And the early registration rate ends on September 1. After that, it increases $30 per person.

The Cinnamon Rolls at Amelia's Restaurant there at the hotel are amazing! Watch out for cars crossing the runway as there is an active road going across it. They are usually good at looking before crossing but you never know. It will be cooler there than most anyplace on the east coast. Highest valley east of the Mississippi.

The Va Beach Hotel will be releasing unused rooms in our block this week. Sept weekends usually sell out in Va Beach So it is best to reserve now or risk needing another hotel. We are all pretty excited about the schedule this year. Come on down!
 
Alan, thanks for the tip on the car crossing. I'll add that to deer, birds, and other critters that seem to be attracted to a runway.

Scott, I think Mike Nielsen might be staying at Windwood on Tuesday night. The more the merrier.

Sorry it took so long to get my name on that list. Our bids do not finalize until around the 20th of the month for the next month. Looking at the bid lines last week, I wasn't so sure I would be able to bid the necessary days off. To make it worse, it has been difficult lately to get even unpaid days off (pilot shortage?). I really lucked out. Managed to get my first choice which brackets BACFest with days off prior to, through and after. I will go home on Sunday and still be off for five more days. Not sure how that happened bidding seniority 195 out of 315 lines.

I guess you all are stuck with me again this year.
 
So Dan, when are you going to get Montana, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Alaska & Hawaii filled in on your map? :confused:

I am not sure. I only count the states that I have landed in. I may have to go and knock the rest out on my own dime at some point. I added North Dakota just in the last year as we fly into Fargo. In fact, I was there this past Sunday night. I tried to talk my wife into renting an airplane last year in Hawaii without success. I figure that I have a few years left to finish all 50. I've been over all of them in the air except Alaska.

About three weeks to go and 57 are registered for BACFest. Just a reminder, the early registration rate ends on September 1. After that, it increases $30 per person. Registration is also available on-site for any last minute decision-makers at the $115 rate.

Fifty-four registered now for BACFest! A little more than 48 hours remain before the early bird registration fee ends and the price goes up. If in doubt, go ahead and register. Cancellations for a full refund can be made through Thursday, September 12. On the 13th, the food guarantees have to be made with the hotel, so registration fees become guaranteed on the 13th.

I feel like a wedding planner! Looking over the list feels like reading a list of a reunion coming! Lots of old friends here, some new friends, and some people I have spoken to but never met yet. Things at this end are coming together well and I hope we get our usual great September weather.
 
Becky & I will be departing Sept 21 for another mission trip to Slovenia so we will miss this year. I was really looking forward to VA Beach. It looks like Paul has done an outstanding job of putting activities together for this BACfest. Y'all have a wonderful time and post plenty of pictures to the website!
