Recklaw Flyin - 2017

Mike,

I go almost every year. Let me know your arrival plans and we can possibly team up.

Flying traffic is a circus. Hopefully your Skywagon friend has attended before and knows the routine. Be proficient in short field landings and always be ready to go around. Always.

This year I might be driving if I make it. Right now it is 50/50 chance for my going. I was hoping to take the Sundowner but it is still grounded. Photos are from an earlier year in my homebuilt.

Nelson sorry you couldn't make it. My first year, my friend's 15th year. What a show. We arrived Friday morning and it was quiet, probably only about 100 planes there already under the clouds and 25 knot winds. Most arrived Saturday morning (weather was clear and cold), maybe 200 more in a few hours amid fly over's, low flyby's and a mix of all at the same time.

I've seen more low passes at 10 feet AGL in 48 hours than in my life. Yes there's about a 15' dip in the middle of the runway. Several hundred aircraft of all types up and down both sides of the 3500 feet of turf runway lined on both sides with parked planes plus two fields full of parked planes. Planes land under planes doing flyby's, high speed low flyby's by fast planes, low speed flyby's by slow planes. A real stunning fly in.

Michael,

Thanks for posting the photos and videos. Very glad you made it!! Sweet!

Now you know why I will never call this a BAC fly-in for our Aero Club! As an overly cautious pilot, this fly-in is a bunch of fun, but my safety training pretty much gives me an ulcer during most of the day. Dude. Very doable, but not for the weak of heart ..... or low time pilot...

613aw was at the 'Rodent Round Up' in 2005ish. I could eventually dig out a name. But no doubt it was BAC in the day
