Gaston's White River Resort - November 09, 2013

You caught me! I'm going to have to hit the books and try to figure it out. Of course I knew who they all were at the time, and I'm pretty sure the small people came with me... So let me get back to you on that one. This was the year we drove up there because my annual ran out in October.

OK, I'll pull a Brad Mitchell and pull some records out of my a**.

The 2008 PT Standings show that Mike Rellihan, Ron Powell, Gary Drussel and Bill McClellen got PT points for Gaston's in 2008.

Bill McClellen only got 3 PT points. Wonder how that happened.

Yeah, that sounds familiar. That's why you are the one piece tailcone of the BAC, you're that handy! As for Bill McClellen, he is the retired air force test pilot that drove over to Gaston's. He's like 80 or so and wasn't sure he wanted to fly in. After watching a few people arrive, he couldn't resist, he went home and got his plane. It may have been based at the little paved airport just over the hill. You know the one.

CVH, no points for Jay? Oh wait, he said he drove. Was that back in the ol' days when you actually had to fly your plane to a fly-in to receive credit?

This Bill McClellen story is funny! Thanks for sharing it!

You know I never noticed that little airport until this last trip. It has "VALLEY" painted on the runway. I found it on AirNav. I thought it was new but it says it was activated in 1972. Then I thought maybe they'd paved it since I was up there last but there's a picture of it on AirNav that was from winter of 2002 and it was paved then. I think the runway was 2800' X 24'. It's private.

As hard as you have to look to find Gaston's I wonder how I missed spotting it before.
