BACFest 2017 New Bedford Has Concluded

Steve, I feel your frustration with UPS. Had an item shipped to me for the 4th of July. Received it several days after the 4th and the box looked like it had been in a soccer match. Item rattled when I picked it up off of the porch when they delivered it after 6pm they didn't even ask for a signature or I would have opened it in front of them. Company requested I return item via FedEx. Replacement was shipped FedEx and OK.

If you do get the part and still plan at stopping at KFIG for fuel and a break, give me a shout.

I found a arm to twist with UPS i threatened to change the delivery to the building it was in and have Fedex come pick it up. I got about 4 or 5 no no nos and dont do that. It was on a flight to Boston a half hour later. After the cylinder was installed took off from New Bedford at 215pm eastern and landed after 2 fuel stops and a weather stop at 145am central time. That makes for a long day. I think the cylinder is all broke in. The engine used maybe a half of quart of oil in a 10 hr flight. Harvey KFIG was to be my first stop, unfortunatly there was a thunderstorm over the airport when i was to land so i diverted to university field.

Amazing Steve. Glad you are home safe and sound. Our illustrious President is in your neck-of-the-woods and currently has his airplane parked at Creve Cour.
 
I am so sorry that what should have been a fairly straight forward repair was made into a long suffering ordeal by UPS. I am so happy that it is over and that you are back home. Have some good rest now and look forward to more flying when you get time.
 
I actually got to talk to Steve yesterday (Hi Steve it's Tom) as he was being handed off to Providence Approach. He got to tell me that he was headed back to St. Louis and had 9 hours ahead of him. I got to wish him good luck. Typical pilot conversation on a busy frequency.
 
I know the illustrious potentate's in town. I have family in town also and need to spend time with them. I hope John has a good time playing on the ice.

I love those little private conversations Tom.
I once had a friend pass through Hobby airport with a bizjet, so i drove down to have lunch with them. I stood by as they took off and listened on my handheld. Once he was off the ground i said a quick "bon voyage" and got back a short "merci mon vieux".

5 words, but so special :-)
