BACFest 2012 - Gulf Shores, Alabama

59 BAC faithful at Lambert's tonight. I don't think anyone left hungry! We have 15 planes in Gulf Shores. 10 fixed gear and 5 retracts. More arrivals expected tomorrow.

About 30 interested BACers listened as Marty Vanover discussed Sierra landing gear and the extensive work he has performed on his plane. Next stop will be the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola this afternoon.

Great presentation by Marty V. We all learned a lot! Wonderful day of comraderie and planes! BACFest rocks!

This is the best BACfest ever!

Great high hotel rooms overlooking miles of white Gulf beaches, beautiful location, excellent aircraft maintenance presentation, tasty food, lots of airplanes and BACers every where.

The National Naval Aviation Muesum is my personal favorite.

Marty's presentation was awesome!

66 attended the reception tonight and the 19th baby Beech arrived on the ramp. Gulf Shores is rockin with BACers! After the reception Mayor Sciscoe treated about 25 attendees to multiple vote-buying beverages. Doug Muse chipped in buying shots for the ladies! A great night at BACFest. The luncheon and banquet follow on Saturday.

Sorry we had to bug out early but we HAD to be home no later than Sunday. We shot a GPS (non-WAAS) into Magnolia and popped out of the clagg at 300 above MDA!

We had a wonderful time getting to meet new BACers and renewing old friendships!

Great job Brad Mitchell! I think we're going to make you BACfest Officer in perpetuity!

Really disappointed that we weren't able to stay today. The weather reports just weren't giving me much confidence that we would be able to make it out tomorrow. And we didn't have the luxury of sticking around past Sunday. Sounds like we missed a great time today, but we're grateful for the opportunity to meet those that we could. I have to start working on that instrument rating...

We ran into a fellow Melbourne (Florida) Area Pilot Association member at Marianna that was doing a Pilots for Paws run. They didn't have enough room for all the dogs so we ended up with four of them--a mom mixed-lab with three puppies--and became a rescue mission today. They weren't a problem at all. Curled up in the carrier and didn't make a peep (or poop--thank goodness).

Brad, Chris and all those that contributed your time, talent and $ (I'm sure you've tossed some in the kitty at least indirectly), a big THANK YOU!!! I heard a rumour about next year's site when we were at Jack Edwards and met Gary and Mary Mascelli on their way out this morning...

Nice to meet up Gary.

We made it home around 6:30 this evening and I still had enough energy to clean and cover 08R. Mary and I went out to dinner then home.

We had a great time, even though it was WX shortened for us. I'm looking forward to news on BACFest 2013!!!

Charlotte and I bailed early, too. VFR all the way home to ALX. We really enjoyed meeting new friends and reconnecting with old, looking forward to next years BACFEST already. Brad: Best job ever, we should annoint you BACFEST CZAR.

Just left Kenny at the FBO here at PNS as he conned a crew rest couch out them for the night.
The man is slick! I think they love his accent.

Jane and I arrived back in St. Augustine 13:30. This was Our first BACFest and we had a great time, met wonderful people
and made many new friends.

We would like to thank everyone involved in the planning and implementation of this event.
Brad for BACFest Czar is an excellent suggestion. Many thanks for his efforts.

We are looking forward to 2013. Until then, please visit us anytime you are in the area, and hopefully
many of you will be able to attend our St. Augustine Fly-in.

Safe travels,

I would like to thank Doug Muse for his work securing door prizes. I would also like to thank everyone who donated prizes; especially Chris and Marty. To me, the program was the best. Thanks for thinking of the members while at Reno.

Regards,

Brad and Ann are back home. What a great time meeting old and new friends! I'm sure the baby Beeches drove Pensacola Departure crazy with the shotgun launch this morning, but he sure seemed to have a handle on everything. Really appreciated them issuing the "all weather deviations allowed" call out. Sorry that Dean and Dohnae had alternator problems and had to return to KJKA and rent a car for the trip home.

Also sorry some had to depart early Saturday and miss the banquet. We had 57 remaining to enjoy a final night of camaraderie. And thanks to Rap McBurney for the suction cup heading bugs. Rap, they all got scooped up!

354 days and counting down until Virginia Beach.

Doug and Susan are home. We had a great time and are looking forward to 2013 and beyond. Tell all your BAC friends about BAC Fest and let's break the 100 mark next year.

Doug

Me and Mike Koening are still here enjoying the weather. Weather is so good, we may stay an extra day or two.

Digger and Deb arrived home around 3:15. Great time seeing everyone, and looking forward to Virginia Beach. Hope everyone gets out soon.

Brad, I went by the airport a few minutes ago and thought I saw Marty's beacon flashing. LOL. KUDOS to Brad, Doug and Dan for a great meeting. It was my first, but definitely not my last.
