BACFest 2012 - Gulf Shores, Alabama

Looks like the "Cote Curse" may be upon us. The extended forecast deteriorates over the weekend of BAC Fest. Monday and Tuesday being the worse. I'd like to sneak out on Sunday, but that is iffy at the moment. As that is 10 days out, the weather deck is sure to be re-shuffled by then. Good news is, there is no snow in the forecast.

Give it 3 hours in the South. It changes quickly. It could be gloom and doom then 3 hours later will be the prettiest blue skies.

Steve, if they won't extend your reservation, let me know and I'll call "my guy" at the hotel.
Brad

Our plans were to overnight in Perry GA then make the 2.5 hr hop to JKA thursday morning. I'm thinking about bagging wednesday and just heading south for a day of flying and getting in wednesday late afternoon. May ask for some help getting a room a day early. Calling the Island house today and see what the chances are.....will report back.

Gary and Mary, come on down! Ann and I are already here with Debbie and Gary Boyce. I checked with the hotel and adding Wednesday night to your reservation will be no problem.

Well gang,
The "Go Anywhere Mouse" will not be coming to KJKA.

It ain't the weather, It will be fine Wed and Thursday along our route and waiting until Monday to leave would not be a problem.

It ain't the plane, it flew just fine to Mustang Beach for my Birthday weekend.

I just got back from the Doctor (3rd time in 6 days). I had a cold which triggered the routine sinus infection which this time went into bronchitis. Before we could arrest it, it had become mild pneumonia.

I think that we have finally got control of it. The symptoms are improving rapidly and I'm so full of antibiotics that when I sneeze, I cure someone.

We still plan to attend if the improvement continues, but we will be driving. I don't think I am still contagious, even the original donor of the cold (My blushing bride) is down to a slight nagging cough. So unless something else goes sideways, we will be VFR at zero AGL Wednesday AM, Arriving sometime around noon on Thursday.

Bo, sorry you can't fly but kudos to you and Sandra for making the drive. Spirit like that is what speaks volumes about the camaraderie BACFest generates within the club.

Brad,

If you guys get to Pensacola, try the Oar House and if you like shrimp to take back to the hotel, try Joe Patti's seafood. They will steam the shrimp and pack it in ice for you. If you get to Pensacola Beach, try Pegleg Pete's. In any case, have a bushwacker somewhere!!!

Bo hope you're feeling better!

Mary is up and about today, migraines gone, at least for now and we are getting the final packing and items marked off our checklist. I just ordered a belly full of fuel for 08Romeo so as of this afternoon we are a go for the BACfest mission!! We are dropping off the Italian mastiff at 7:30, filing the IFR flight plan and launching by 8:30am tomorrow. The decision is for plan B with two stops vs the one midway stop, winds do not want to cooperate. :(

Gary,
I grew up next to KPXE (family farm still there). I live due west of Perry at KCSG. See you and Mary in Gulf Shores.

Sharmalie and Steve wheels up by 6:40 Wednesday morning, we're excited! Gary, we're out of DC and the winds suck around here, but everything gets better the farther south we go, just going east of the hills to hopefully stay out of the bumps.
