BACFest 2010!

Our home base is only 46nm away from Stinson, so we may fly and we may drive or some combination of both.

Looking forward to seeing those of you I already know and meeting the rest!

Well I finally got my schedule and I have the 7-10 off as requested. Made the registration and hotel reservations. Adrianne is coming as well....so is the dog. Now all I have to do is decide if I am driving down from Dallas or flying commercial.

Dan Jonas

As of Sunday morning, September 26, we have 35 members plus 22 additional spouses/guests registered for BACFest. If those numbers hold, it will be the third largest BACFest. If you're planning to come, be sure to register this week. Beginning Saturday, October 2, the registration fee increases to $110/person.

See you in San Antonio.

OK I'm going to be in about 5 PM on Thursday. I'm bringing my brother and look forward to seeing everyone. Checks in the mail. Bringing "Luci" N2354W.

Well, just when you think you have it made.... flight plan loaded, aircraft annual complete, all fueled up and then.......... My wife and 3 others get run over in a parking lot by a drunk driver. She has a broken leg, so if we get to SAT at all? we will drive. Enjoy life as much as you can!!!! in just a wink of an eye it can be gone. One person is still in the ICU with head injuries. Hope to see ya all soon.

Johnie,

Sorry to hear the news. Glad your wife is doing OK. Take care of the family!

OK...everyone who is even thinking of flying their own bird to BAC Fest, here is your chance!
Due to a continuous, chaotic, concatenation of calamities (Whoa! I think I was channeling Spiro Agnew there for a moment!) I will not be flying 58L to San Antonio.*

This means that the weather there will be great!. My spies tell me that the Weather Gods so overspent their budget last year that they can't do it to me again this year. (I mean, really, they blanketed the entire eastern third of the US to get me then.)
However, my loss is your gain. Though I will be at the mercy of Gulag Airlines (any one of them makes the web racks in a C-130 look attractive) this means that many of YOU can proudly strut your stuff on the flight line with your Mouse. So c'mon down!

*In actuality, my schedule has gotten so crazy that I am woefully unprepared to fly such a big mission. Among other things, I have only logged 1 hour in two repositioning flights in the past month! The good is...if I were in shape to fly...the plane is actually working!I 8)

10 day forecast for San Antonio:
10/6 Sunny. mid 60s low 80s
10/7 Sunny. mid 60s low 80s
10/8 Sunny. mid 60s low 80s

Weaher excuse is dissapating rapidly.

Hi everyone! Rodney and I are looking forward to flying our Beech on down to San Antonio if we can get her annual finished. If not, we are driving! Our plan is to come in Thursday evening and ride a shuttle or cab it to the hotel. San Antonio is one of our most favorite places. If the work schedule prevents us from coming in on Thursday, we will be down on Friday. We are looking forward to seeing everyone!
Denise and Rodney

Denise and Rodney, looking forward to meeting you and having another great time in San Antonio. The riverwalk and all the shops are hard to beat! If not Thursday, then we'll see you Friday when you arrive.
Brad & Ann Mitchell

Flying into KSAT. How far to the hotel in terms of Cab ride? I fly in Thursday, Adrianne comes in Friday, we both go out Sunday, so three cab rides. Any ideas cost vs. rental car?

Dan, check the article in BACTalk. All the info on cab/shuttle fares is there.

Dan,
The cabs are a best value if you pack them with people. They use zone rates and don't count heads.
But the biggest headache with a rental is the parking fee at the hotel. They wallop you...aww rats, forgot, but I think it was $16/day. 'Course, if you try to drive in center San Antonio you see why they discourage tourists cars. Rest of the city is fine but, if the traffic in that neighborhood was always that bad...Santa Anna would never have been able to get to the Alamo! (And Crockett's cap would have been roadkill.)
