BAC Day 2019

In 2013 Tom Robertson (TOMTERRIFIC) suggested this:

I propose we schedule a BAC Day. This day would be set aside by members for the purpose of taking our Beeches for a flight. Flights can be for 5 minutes or an all day affair. On subsequent days we would write our experiences to a forum here for everyone to see. How many of our aircraft can get into the air in one day?

So, what do you think?

I don't find a record of how many of our planes took to the air that day six years ago. However, it seems like a fun thing to do again.

So, I have arbitrarily picked the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend as celebrated in the United States (May 26th) for our event. To qualify fly your plane anywhere for any length of time on May 26, 2019. Report that you flew on this thread. Only a short message like "N1234X flew on BAC Day" is necessary. Write more detail including where and how high etc. if you like. Maybe try skywriting that day.

Wherever you are in the world BAC Day begins at local sunrise on May 26 and ends at local sunrise on May 27. If you can only go to the airport and touch your plane because of crappy weather we may later decide to count that.

Good luck. Tom Corcoran

BEECH DAY

From sunrise on Sunday May 26 to sunrise on Monday May 27 (wherever you are in the world).

Report your flight on this thread. This is for fun just to see how many of our Beech planes we can get in the air on one day.

Post your report here... "John Doe Sundowner N1234X over Portland, Maine 54 minutes 13:00Z"

Hello Tom I hope you flew today.I did went to Southbridge Mass Portland Maine and back to Danielson Connecticut

A little early this year. I worked on my Sierra but flew a Musketeer on Friday. Does close count in horse shoes and BAC Day?

A couple for the day.
First up is a run in VH-WEI (MC-719) from YTYA to YLTV, @ 00:35Z, only 36 minutes, but I went there to work on VH-ISM (MC-690) for the afternoon. Then a bumpy run BAC to Tyabb, 41 minutes, and some mandatory x-wind landing practice, 05:40Z.

It was the third flying day for the week. Best effort in quite a while!

Flew yesterday for about 2 hours or so making sure the sky was ready for all BAC members today!!
Hoping to get back up sometime today

Flew in beautiful weather yesterday 5/25 FWN to BID. 3.7 hours round trip.

Met some non Beech owners on the island and then lunch to refuel the pilot.

Clouds at 4000 and above the whole way and 10 miles visibility with haze.

Upon return starter was not working when I tried to taxi to refuel back at home. Will test today and see if I can get in the air for BAC day.

OK, Tom, went out early and fondled 58L. Then went back into the FBO to work; it'll be a zoo today!

I cannot be in the air today: BFR is out and have been trying to get with my instructor to renew it for 2 weeks :-(

...But my heart is soaring with the thought that all my BAC brothers are out and about representing!!!!

FWIW I will go fondle the green beast before going a few hangars down to finish an annual on a Piper and give some sheet metal instruction.

Any chance one of our Talented IT Gurus could over lay all the flight paths from Flight Aware of all the BAC planes that fly this weekend???
Is this possible?

Even though I am based at KCZL, there were two neighboring airports that I have never landed at, until today. So, today I went to 9A5 (Lafayette, Ga) then down to RMG (Rome, Ga.) as you can see from the track, I took the scenic route. Did not start early enough tho, I lifted off around 9:50am. it was smooth air on the first leg but after Lafayette I started getting a little bumpy. Decided to call it a day when I got back to CZL at 11:10.

I represented BAC over Cape Cod, Massachusetts today.
The flight was less than an hour from Mansfield, Massachusetts to Cape Cod and back.
N5162M about 11:00am.
Weather was just clearing out so it was bumpy.
Had to get back to holiday guests at the beach.

N6591A participated today. 1.2 hours using a rectangular course that took me east to Cave Run Lake near Morehead, KY then back and shot a practice approach back into 27K. Boaters were out, too, enjoying the pretty day. Thanks to TC for suggesting the flying day. All the Avgas vendors are happy you had us burning their 100LL today.
