! See new thread dated 1/29/24! There has been a change in the dates!
I am planning an Alaska trip for June 15-30, 2024. Anyone that would like to join in is welcome. I picked June for the length of the days and number of days with sunshine. The plan is to fly up the Alaskan Highway route and possibly return by the trench route. For anyone that may come from different locations we could meet up at Edmonton to start the journey together. The base of operations will be at Fairbanks International Airport campgrounds. I plan on flying to Barrow, Nome, Valdez, and Juneau. The weather may not allow all those destinations and I am sure the list will change. For me it will be an outdoorsy experience with camping by the airplane as much as possible. It wouldn’t have to be that way, if someone wants a motel, will figure out locations to accommodate. If an Alaska trip is on your bucket list, this is an opportunity to have that experience with the support of the BAC family to go with you.
As time goes on I will add reference links for the required permits and logistics.
Item #1 is a passport. It is probable that the federal government will shutdown and one off the services that will cease is the processing of passports. I know it is 10 months away, but processing could get real backed up. If you don’t have a valid passport through 2024 I am suggesting that you send in an application very soon. You will want to be high up on the list when they start processing again.
