Reno Air Races

Scott,

Bring her to Beech Fest! I think you still would qualify for PT points! Oh ya that would be a nice show, even on the ground.

Hey Marty

Box 108, got it. I'll come hunt you down sometime and steal a cold adult beverage out of your cooler.

We moved the Bear to the east end of the field, in the east Aviation Classics hangar. We're not sure how this is going to work out for race week. If all is well, she should be in the pitts.

Scott, we were invited out yesterday by one of our customers............they will be in a box. Only thing is, we already snuck in two weeks off this year, our vacation to N.Y and an unanticipated full week at Oshkosh... :D

We are definately going to have to make it out for the races sometime!!! Need to 'plan' things out.

Make sure you keep Don D. in line!!!!

Sam

Scott,

If you can't find me in Box 108, ask someone in Box 106 where I went. I'm usually in Box 106, but the crowd is a little bigger this year. Watch out for the guys in Box 105, they're a rowdy bunch of Air Force types, of which most are Wild Weasel Weirdos or River Rats. Mostly ex- Thud and Phantom drivers and a few sundry other heros. Usually Col. Gerry Driskoll shows up the last couple of days to try an keep them in line.

Hey Sam

You know Don Dull? Its a small world.
Don is by far one of the best mechanics in the biz. He is an integral part of our team, we could not do this without him, his knowledge and experience.

Hope to see ya there, come look us up.

We won't make it this year......... :(

I met Don last year when I flew out there to do a pre-purchase and condition inspection on the T-37 Tweet. Don was instrumental in the restoration and then the maintenance on the two of them. He taught me (in three days) everything I would need to know about the Tweet. He is a master at what he does. Taught me to think WAY outside the box when it came to "alternative" repairs for the Tweet. I just talked to Don on Thursday, still need his input on a few things, he's a great guy. I have to get out there again to visit him!

HAve fun at the races!!!

Sam

Scott, here's Don and I going over our 'game plan' for the Tweet....

Just returned from Reno (RON'd at Cable Airport Monday nite). Great time! Good to meet Scott. Sorry that Rare Bare didn't get the gremlins worked out for the Gold Race, but a 2nd place isn't bad. History was made in a couple of classes. The unlimited class has a new 22 year old champ, Stephen Hinton, son of Steve Hinton, the previous youngest unlimited champ (26).

My flight began on Monday the 14th to Cable to pick up an ol' Navy buddy. The flight from Cable to South Lake Tahoe was spectacular! CAVU and smooth as the proverbial baby's bottom. The return flight just as nice, as the wind gods were not angry with me. Today's flight had some bumps but the best winds. KCCB - KCHD was 2+33.

Looking forward to October in the Smoky's.

It was nice to meet you. Sorry we had such a thrash going on, it was a hard hard 3 weeks for us. I never had time to see the static display or go shopping. I would have loved to come see ya at your box seats, maybe next year. All is good with the Bear after Sunday's race. That stock enging will be coming off and the new race engine will be installed. Next year will bring more excitement for sure.
