Air Race Classic Fly-In

Sue Jones is not going to be able to participate in the Air Race Classic as planned due to her inability to circumnavigate the weather between VA and TX. As a result, we are going to move the fly-in from Stafford Regional to nearby Shannon (KEXF) airport where they have relatively inexpensive fuel and a new restaurant. We will meet at noon for lunch. If you're coming, reply so we'll know how many to plan for.

You guys will like Shannon. They've done some great work renovating the terminal and adding the sandwich bar (not really a restaurant yet). I'm a Fredericksburg native and have great memories of my dad taking me out to the airport to watch the planes. The seed was planted. It only took until I was almost 50 to get my ticket. ENJOY!!!
 
Note that this Saturday is also the big day for pilots at the Smithsonian Air and space museum at Dulles. Maybe after lunch stop in at Dulles and see how much fun there can be at a museum! Sorry I will miss you all at Stafford. Unless the weather makes me stop....
 
I'm going to try to make it. Shannon is just a few miles north from me. Just need to button up the plane and fly!

BTW: Shannon is KEZF.

With the tropical storm remnants coming in from the west, I'm concerned about making it back home so I'm not going to make it. I think Persinger is still coming.
 
Woke up to find Jimmy Buffet parked a few spaces down from me. Flew a few hours of Young Eagles (to try to catch up with George, Bob Prange, John Zinkus ) Then met John Palmer and the new owner of Shannon Airport for Lunch. He is putting together a nice discount deal for BAC members . Aero shell 15w-50 W for $79.80 a case ( 12 quarts) . Pick up there no shipping. John and I made their face book page.

Alan, totally understand on the weather . We need another Fly -in soon. Northwest is on fire along with East Central .
 
I did make it to Smithsonian at Dulles and even made it out at 1530 or so and up to Harrisburg PA area. But flying anywhere more today is out.
