Loose optional unofficial plan for Wednesday evening for Early Bird arrivers:

Branson IMAX Experience

Margie and I will go to an early dinner in the complex with the Branson IMAX Experience about 5:00pm.
The name is McFarlain's Family Restaurant.
Then we will go to the 6:30 IMAX "SULLY" show.
Hopefully we will meet other BACers there.

And, yes we could see the movie anywhere, but it will be more fun to hangar-talk afterwards with our flying friends. (Gets over at 8:30 leaving time for good talk and beverages).
We have never been to Branson and this seems like the easiest way to make hook-up arrangements from nearly 2,000 miles away.

SULLY: THE IMAX EXPERIENCE
PG-13 , 1 hr 36 min
Documentary, Drama
IMAX
12:00pm 2:00pm 6:30pm 8:30pm

We have neighbors who have a time share in Branson. They have a favorite restaurant there. It is the Keeter Center which is run by the College of the Ozarks. The college does not charge tuition, but trains students in various things including running a restaurant. The food is reasonable as well as good and the service is great we are told. One catch we understand is that a person needs a reservation. Linda and I have a reservation for two for lunch Wednesday. Let us know if anyone would like to join us we will adjust that. Her is a link to their web site: https://www.keetercenter.edu/Dining.aspx We understand they have no reservations available on Thursday.

Mike and Linda - - please plan to have me join you for lunch on Wednesday. I will arrive in town about 11:00 am. What time should I meet you at the Keeter Center ?? And the appropriate dress?

Many thanks for input (and arrangements) for Wednesday lunch. If you have time, forward your cell phone number (PM?) so I may contact you all if needed. Looks like I should gain about 10 lbs this trip .....

Bob is correct. Count me in. A friend of mine at work who has been to Branson a couple of times mentioned several places to go. One was the restaurant at The Keeter Center at College of the Ozarks, Lambert's, Bass Pro Shop, and a Mexican restaurant at Top of the Rock.

Folks-

The Dobyns Dining Room at the Keeter Center is a favorite of Suzanne and I. The College of the Ozarks is a wonderful place. As mentioned, the young adults that graduate from C of O as we call it, graduate debt free. The kids have jobs around campus. They have an operating farm which is where quite a bit of the food comes from they serve at the Dobyns Dining Room. They have a creamery at the Keeter Center too with some great ice cream, Nettie Marie's. The Keeter Center is a working hotel and conference center all staffed by the students and managed by the adult instructors. There is a small museum inside the Keeter Center dedicated to the US Military... There is also another museum on campus, the Ralph Foster Museum (https://www.rfostermuseum.com/).

C of O is a wonderful place. Great students - respectful, wholesome and unapologetically patriotic.

The Mexican Restaurant at the Top of the Rock is named Arnie's Barn. It is a 150 year old barn that was moved from Latrobe, PA, the childhood home of Arnold Palmer. Johnny Morris, the founder of the Bass Pro Shops, had the same family of Amish constructors disassemble the barn and recreate it back here in Missouri. It another amazing place. There is also a museum on site at Top of the Rock. Stunning views abound from Top of the Rock. If you get the time please place it on your list to visit while you are here in Branson.

We contacted our neighbor about appropriate dress and she said casual is fine. This includes most styles from jeans to shorts and better as well. Linda contacted the restaurant to make additional reservations and found out that it is better to reserve more than we need. Then on Tuesday we will call them with the final number and reduce it to what we actually will have. So here is an invitation for more of you to join us if you can. We have room and would love to have you. My cell is 308-340-7283. Just in case it is needed, here is LInda's cell: 308-340-2800.

One other tidbit of information... The airport that is our host airport for BACFest was owned and operated by the College of the Ozarks.

M. Graham Clark Field was originally developed as a private airport by the College of the Ozarks for use in their aviation science department, and was originally officially associated with the village of Point Lookout, Missouri, a small village on a bluff overlooking the White River Valley which was later completely bought out and overwhelmed by the development of the college. The airport identifier, PLK, was based on the name of the town officially associated with the facility under a federal grant through which the college originally developed the airport.
The airport was named after M. Graham Clark, the president of the college at the time the airport was originally constructed.
College of the Ozarks closed down its aviation science department in 2003. Shortly thereafter, the airport was donated by the college to Taney County so that the Branson and Hollister community would not lose its important general aviation airport.

Jean and I plan to touch down around 1400 on Wednesday. Will probably miss your lunch but count us in for dinner and Sully with the rest of the gang. Bringing our poochie so staying at the la Quinta. Will cancel reservations at the Radisson...so should be extra room available for whom ever is interested. Have a rental car also if folks need rides.
