Donut Day Do Over at KALX

I'll be out there about 7AM too, there's a big square parking area outlined in white, my mouse N2339J should already be there. It's right in front of the maintenance hangar. Look fwd to seeing you.

Rap
Rap, I'm planing on flying up. I plan on getting there around 7. Is there a preferred place you would like me to park?

Rap,

My plan is to arrive KALX mid-afternoon on Friday, tie down, and head for the Days Inn. Looks to be walk-able (about one mile). Then collect my senior coffee at the McDonalds early morning and see you all on Saturday for the Donut Day. Looking forward to having others look at my 1976 Sundowner for a thorough "post-buy" inspection (!) Green on white, N1998L.

All VERY dependent on the weather at both ends ... and in between. Yes, I am a fair weather flyer. :|

Thanks for getting this underway,

Nelson: I suspect you will get the distance award! I did KALX to Stenson for BF 11, and it's a haul!! Mid day Friday we will still be working on Dave's SD, so someone will be there to greet you. If the jet jocks are not staying over the weekend, I'll see if the crewcar is available. And, there will be several personal vehicles to get you to/from hotels. Also see my PM.

Nelson, were you ever accused of having one of the rather large R/C flyers when you had that thing? It looks like you just unloaded it from the bomber in that picture :)

What is the latest count for those planning on attending "donut day" at KALX? Rap is a great host is looking for a good turnout. The program on replacement of donuts and an opportunity to meet other BAC members will be well worth the trip.

I spoke with Mike Smith, KALX airport manager, today and he told me, as he did Rap previously, that he was giving BAC members a $0.20 per gallon discount on fuel purchases on Saturday. That makes the price $4.50 per gallon for 100LL.
Fly safe,

I was hoping to make it but ain't gonna happen. Long flight for me for short stay and family obligations. Hope to see you guys at BAC TAC.

Well ... sitting at Starbucks this morning in San Antonio and no donuts! Shucks! The flight to Alexander City looked decent for yesterday, but then the clouds would be on my tail, closing the door for a Sunday or Monday return. Per winds aloft, I would have been cruising east around 155 mph ground speed. Dude.

But logic (and the need to be back home late Monday) prevailed and so, here I am, with no donuts and not watching mouse donuts at KALX.

Good news ... 2.7 hours yesterday on a lunch run to Fredricksberg and two landings and takeoffs at SAT international for some good radio work. Keeps the fingers nimble!

Rap, some other time, my friend. Send photos!

Be safe,
Nelson

All:
Thanks to Dave and Jane Singleton for attending as well as helping with the set up and......VIDEO OF A DONUT CHANGE!!!! More on that later. Jay Bruce has volunteered to edit the video and I hope he can bleep the 4 letter words out. Also a shout out to Frank Butler who arrived in a great little 63 mouse and 2 first-timer passengers. Brave man!! No donuts remain, the locals wiped them out.

Thanks again to our airport manager Mike Smith for the 100LL discount, and a special thanks to BAC member and IA Mike Goss who provided the location and facilities for us to demo our Donut Change.

Rap

Rap,
Special thanks to you and Charlotte for everything you did for us. As for Mike Goss of Mike Goss Aviation at KALX, it was a pleasure to do business with him again; knowing N2161W would receive excellent care at a fair price and completed on time.

Please give my thanks to Mike Smith, airport manager for KALX for his support of the "Donut Day". The $0.20 discount on the already cheapest fuel in area was thoughtful.

We we will back,

Dave
