Glad to see the California turn-out! Let's keep it goin'!!!!

Registration seems to have gotten stuck with only 26 attendees so far. Don't wait too late to register, the good rooms allowing you to see the planes on the ramp may be taken. Plus, after the 15th the registration fee goes up 50 BUCKS!

I wanted to say that anyone who is considering the purchase of a Powerflow exhaust or Vortex generators, who wishes a ride to compare figures with their plane, I will give a ride to, weather permitting. I plan on filling the tanks and taking one person at a time.( this should allow for apple to apple comparison) So, get your figures together for a comparison. I weigh 180 with clothes ( I won't fly naked as it ruins the seat covers) so figure that weight into your performance figures. The airport elevation is close to SL and the temps will be between 70-80 usually. You will need your indicated ROC, IAS you climb out at etc for comparison. I also have the Brittain autopilot if anyone wants to see how that works. If your not registered for BAC 08-no ride sorry One last note, if you have a Sundowner, you can probably see how my 160 HP with a powerflow compares to your stock 180. That may give you an idea of whether you wish to pony up for one.

Just one week left to register and get the lower "early registration fee." Please note, since everyone is responsible for their room, activity (wine tour) and BAC Fest registration fees, then you must register for each one separately.

For rooms go to www.radisson.com/santamariaca and use the promo code "BEECH" to get our special rate.

For the winery tour go to www.goldcoastlimos.com/winetours_santa-maria-tour.html

And for BAC Fest 2008 registration go to vbl.beechaeroclub.org/bac_fest+main.html

Let me know if you run into problems!

What is the dress for the Friday night shindig?

Our normal traveling clothes are jeans and tee or golf shirts.

We hate to pack tux and pantyhose if they ain't needed.

Bo and Sandra

You don't have to wear pantyhose if you don't want to, Bo. You'll be in good company without them (mine)....

I am almost fully recovered from my knee sugery. So, I am thru wearing those panty hose and I am not going to shave my legs again either. That nurse went wild with that razor, but that is another story. I will be on vacation and at BACFEST!

Sciscoe

Nice casual clothes are appropriate for the banquet. No tuxedos, no gown but no cut-offs and flip-flops either. Hope this helps.

Chris L.

PS-Rellihan in panty hose? This I gotta see!

Well, on second thought, maybe not!

Santa_Maria.jpg

Santa Maria is ready to welcome everyone! If you haven't registered, you need to do so. Remember, if things change and you can't come, your room reservation can be cancelled up to the day before your arrival!

There'll be planes, fellow members, lots to do, see and learn! And the great California wines are, of course, always there!

Come join the fun....BAC Fest 2008!!!

Central Texas delegate

If my luck holds out, I'll be out there for BACFest08! I'm registered for BACFEST, a room, and the Savvy Aviator Seminar.

I'm expecting to have at least one open seat for the trip, and would love to have someone to share expenses with. The wife and eight year old may be staying home - so more than one seat (weight and balance permitting) is a possibility.

I'm based at HYI in San Marcos, TX (about 25 miles south of Austin-Bergstrom Airport).

Planned route is departure on Monday or Tuesday from HYI to PEQ (Pecos, TX) for bathroom and fuel; PEQ to P33 (Cochise County airport in Willcox, AZ) for bathroom and fuel; then P33 to TNP (Twenty-Nine Palms, CA) for overnight and fuel. Have family nearby that will pick us up at the airport. The next morning we make the final leg to KSMX. That's about nine hours of flying on the first day, and two hours on the second.

The airplane is a 1968 Super III (A23-24) - about 15 hours SMOH and extensive annual (all new hoses, all new sceet, good glass, good radios and GPS, recent donuts, recent nosegear service, and all knee-pin service. She's IFR equipped (although I'm not). I learned to fly in the L.A. area (was based at Van Nuys) and have about 160 hours in type.

If you're interested in making the trip with me or want to discuss, please contact me via email or phone.

Mike, let me know how the airport is at Cochise, fuel, service, tie downs etc if possible. I have a family member down that way and I intend to go within the next few months. Thanks Bob

Looks like there are about 16 days til BAC Fest 2008! You can still register and join the fun, informative event!

12 days till Christmas!

I know it is not December, but BAC Fest is like Christmas. Family gatherings, great food, great gifts with seminars and knowledge, and more.

Now, will Uncle Cloyd carve the Turkey properly this year. :) I see the perfect Santa as Bill Manhein. Anyone have a Santa suit???

Doug

ps: I will buy a drink for anyone that can come up with a good "12 days of BAC" song lyrics. The lyrics to the real song can be found here http://www.worldofchristmas.net/christmas-songs/12-days-of-christmas.html

I won't get to make BACfest; but I'll contribute the first verse of "The 12 days of BACfest"

On the first day of BACfest my true love gave to me

A glass cockpit and a Garmin 430.

Name withheld by Request!!

I am in Sunnyvale, CA today and Tuesday (7th). If anyone needs a ride from the Valley area (SJC to SFO) let me know. I am heading to SMX Tuesday afternoon then heading back to the Valley area when BAC Fest is over.
