Alaska 2013!

July 20 eh? I probably have to start fueling up the rat to leave in the next week to get ahead of you all. I wish I could go, it sure would fill out the map all on one trip, but unless I win the lottery tonight. . . . :(

OK, so we had the requisite preps done ($13k annual at Hammerhead, lol, but the mouse is a Mouseum-class piece of work now) so we meet up where and what time on July 20? I will be in Edmonton before, more'n likely working on new software product, so if I can avoid border-flipping, that'd be fine with me. Edmonton on July 20? Or Stateside? On a different note, I do prefer to do early morning flying, tends to be clearer around mountains and smoother - so proven in our once-around-America tour....so my plan would be to publish my website about 8 eastern or central, get in plane, fly for 4-hours, drink beer and sightsee, write columns, play markets, eat, sleep...rinse and repeat until Russian radar picks me up and says Yankee go home. Then I reprogram the blonde autopilot and she drives us home..... Got the customs decal...may have to do a (first) mortgage for fuel, but whatever...bucket list item time. Not partly-crazy here, no sir...

I don't think I'd make the trip on the 20th. I'm probably going to the Arlington fly-in and that is 11-13 July. Oshkosh is 29 July to 4 August. So the 20th is right in-between. If I go, I'd depart Arlington on the 14th and be on my way back by the 20th. I still need to get the custom sticker on the airplane, my passport renewed and figure out how to negotiate the borders again. Might be more trouble than it's worth. Of course, it will all depend on available AMUs.
