BACFest 2021 is shaping up quite nicely with 56 people signed up to date.  That is outstanding!

I was wondering if there is still any interest in motorcycle riding the Tail of the Dragon and/or hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, either just before or just after BACFest 2021. The original dates were indicated as October 12-13 (Tuesday through Wednesday), however, I would entertain shifting it to the days immediately following BACFest 2021 on October 17-18 (Sunday through Monday) if that would work better.

Please post here if you're interested and what set of dates best suit you.  I also need someone to coordinate this effort as I am currently up to my eyeballs in BACFest 2021 planning and Execution.

Last year we had planned the Clarion Hotel that was across the street from the Harley dealership.  The rate was around $130.

The Oak Tree Lodge is indicating a one day only sale of 30% off their regular rate on 29 March 2021.  The Oak Tree Lodge was our host hotel when we did BACFest 2009 in Gatlinburg and it is about ½ mile (I believe) from the Harley dealership.  If it’s truly 30% off their regular rates, that would put the rate around $85.

There are also cabins in the area that Mike Neilson recommended last year:  https://www.pigeonforge.com/stay-a-while/pigeon-forge-cabin-rentals/

Let's get the conversation going.

Due to our time limit given by our commercial flight back home, we can only be part of the fun BEFORE BACFest but as we have done the dragon already a few years ago, we are not too sad if it doesn't work for us.

That is a very good picture.

I regard it as almost in "Only in America" that  one can routinely do or see that, and then add in a private aircraft.

More correctly, I guess it is the Western economies (EU, Canada, Australia NZ, etc) but we are fortunate.

Well, we spent almost all our vacation since 2012 in the US travelling all states with our "Herry". Each color is a different year. We have seen 47 states so far, only Washington, Oregon and Hawaii is missing. We will see when we will be able to finish our trip.

The motorcycle is presently sitting patiently in a hangar of a friend in Calgary in good company with a C182 and an old muscle car.

The picture was made by one of the professional photographers along the Dragon, you can order them after your trip on their website, not cheap but a nice memory!

My wife and I would like to do the Tail of the Dragon if there are any others.  We were planning on Oct 12-13 but could do 17-18 if that's what it ends up being.
