Ingall's Field (HSP) in Virginia is at 3793' the highest elevation airport east of the Mississippi. It has a 5600' paved runway and fuel is available. The Recreational Aviation Foundation will be meeting at 2pm on July 17 to clear an overgrown hiking trail for public use and then several members will be staying over to camp for the night. Being at such a high elevation, stargazing on a clear night from Ingalls is a sight to behold. We will have a campfire and you can count on s'mores! Alan White will be in charge of the project and is inviting all interested BAC members to join in. You are welcome to come in at 2pm and help with the trail project or just come in later for the overnight camping. Bring all of your own food and beverage of choice and method to prepare it and overnight supplies (e.g. tent, sleeping bag, camp chair, etc...) If you would like to come but don't have all the supplies you need, contact Alan and he can possibly help to outfit you for the night.

AOPA has said they will be there to do an article on the event so it would be great if some of our folks could show up.

I will be getting ready to go to Oshkosh but this sounds like a great event.  I have landed there to refuel while waiting out bad weather BELOW me... it was the only airport I could reach without turning back. It was ABOVE the weather.

It is a cool airport on a mountain top.

Rescheduled for Jul 31 - Aug 1. We will now begin the trail clearing project at 10 am to avoid afternoon thunderstorms. Camping overnight is still on the agenda so come in early to help out or show up later to camp out! Either or both is good!
