Montauk Airport Annual Fly In - May 3rd

Around The Moon
What could be the First as well as the Last Annual Fly In at KMTP - Montauk Airport, in Montauk, New York, is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Friday, May 3rd.

Neil, the airport manager has been kind enough to agree to have the landing fees waived and I think Nancy Keeshan will probably be the dispatcher. She is one of the employees there during the season and one of my advanced flight students. And attractive (last picture in “Some of our Students” on my Web Site)

(Robert do we have a Beech Bum shirt small enough for a woman? - She does fly a Bonanza - The only negative - with a female friend of her’s)

This time of the year there are no inexpensive restaurants near the airport. I will work with Robert Staab to see what the club might come up with. We can probably get sandwiches, chips and drinks and the weather should be warm enough to eat outside as the little office it tight. Pizza would probably be cold by the time we got it there, or we could have Sushi but we would have to walk across the street and then catch the fish ourselves.

We will need to supply Neil with the N Numbers of any Mouse that will be attending. So far I am counting on Robert and Donovan and have heard from Tom Corcoran that he will be there.

I am also trying to get a Duchess there.

Lastly, if any attendee needs a Check Mate Laminated Check list, let me know Make Model Year and S/N and I can have them there at a discounted price. I an putting in a restocking order in the next day or two.

Robert, did I miss anything?

some options:
1- Herb's in town has great fried chicken. Montauk Market has good sandwiches - I think both would deliver to the airport if you sent either an advance order that was large. If I remember however, even outside the tiny airport office only has a wooden bench or two -
2- the boneyard might be an option to eat - if you bought soft drinks there. They don't really sell food but have a nice backyard overlooking the water with some couches and seats - dunno if they're open yet for the season or if they'd want to do it, you'd have to check, but it's a nice spot and guaranteed empty at that time of day.
3 - Rick's crabby cafe across the street - also don't know if they're open yet
4 - Gin Beach Cafe -- best food around there. but ditto if their season started.
5 - Inlet seafood (as mentioned) - definitely not the best food around there, but definitely open and nice spot. Probably the easiest plan.

This Fly In is now just over one week away and the advanced weather forecast looks promising. So far I have 4 planes committed.

Please note that the landing fee system is automatic and anyone coming at the last minute without being registered will get billed a $50.00 landing fee. So if you even think that you might make it, get me your rail number so I can get you registered in advance.
