KMTP Montauk, NY Fly in May 3rd

Our thanks to Neil, the Airport Manager for waiving the Landing and Parking Fees and Nancy, who is one of my students and works at the Montauk Airport, our dispatcher.

4 Beeches and one Cessna showed up along with a 1965 Corvette.

5 planes and 8 People.

A review of water landing safety issues as well as Master Switch Procedures, was the topics of our Safety Round Table.

It was a nice time and everyone is looking forward to the next one.

Dan Dicker arrive first after shooting the RNAV 06 Approach as gracefully as always and Bob Hallock and I arrived next also on the RNAV 06 Approach, but in a Cessna as Donovan’s Super III, which I was going to take is both out of IFR currency and awaiting installation of an Approach Certified GPS.

Ken, Tom and Robert showed up in VFR weather and it was relatively clear skies by the time all the food was consumed and the hangar flying subsided.

Dunno about 'graceful' - @corcoran calls it "gentleman's IFR", which I'm going to steal. Leaving KHWV, ceilings were 1200, and a steady overcast blanket to KMTP with tops at 3k - But by the time I descended, I broke out @2100' -- and it continued to clear rapidly after that.

An easy approach and a free sandwich -- no complaints here. Let's do it again soon!

I think I might steal that one too. The morning was a great “Easy IFR” morning to build experience and confidence.
