The Maryland Airport Managers Assoc in combination with the Federal Aviation Administration Safety Team (FAAST) are joining efforts to present the Maryland Festival of Flight at the Ocean City, Maryland airport (OXB) on June 8. Event Schedule is as follows:
7-8am: Continental Breakfast
7:20-8am: Explore Maryland by Air awards ceremony
8:15-9:15: FAA seminar "Mayday"
9:25-10:25: FAA seminar "Spatial Disorientation"
10:35-11:35: FAA seminar "Night Flying"
11:45-12:00: Buses to the Ocean City Air Show
12:00-4:00: Ocean City Air Show
4:00-5:00: Buses back to the airport

The FAA seminars satisfy requirements for those participating in the Wings Program and also for the Explore Maryland by Air program.

We will meet at 11:45 to ride the buses to the air show where we can watch together as a group. Bring your lawn chair! Wear your Beech Nut or Beech Bum T-Shirt if you have one! With sunset not coming until close to 9pm, everyone should have plenty of time to get home before dark.

All attendees without a Beech Nut T-Shirt will be presented with their shirts for attending. This also earns points toward the President's Trophy and the Regional Director's Cup.

What's the Regional Director's Cup?

Is this another innovation of the Mid-Atlantic Region?

Do you have to be a Mid-Atlantic member to win or could a marauding SC member slip in and steal the cup?

When does your newsletter come out again?

Dang, Cant get any mileage for this one, 08Romeo will be on the ramp. Look forward to catching up with the folks who attend.

The Regional Director's Cup is similar to the President's Trophy in that points are awarded to Mid-Atlantic members only for hosting or participating in fly-ins. It is heavily weighted toward Mid-Atlantic Fly-Ins so as to promote them. Top 3 finishers will be awarded plaques. It's explained in the January Newsletter which is archived under Downloads: Club Documents. There have been revisions as time has gone on. Since I'm in charge, I get to make the rules!!! Now about that SC. If it stood for South Carolina, then the answer would be yes. Since it stands for South Central, the answer is No! All of the newsletters are archived. The last one came out late. Hey, it was done on time but our Regional Director was too busy ice dancing with the Ice Follies to get it distributed on time, so since there has been no M-A fly-in to report on, I will skip a month and the next one will come out around June 15.

I have a hike planned for that weekend. So I will not be there, but it does sound like a great event. If you find any of the FAASteam presentations especially good let me know and we can to repeat it at BACFest.

I did 7 miles yesterday at the Hone Quarry area west of Bridgewater in the GWNF yesterday. One of my dogs still can barely move today!

I'm flying in on Friday too and setting up camp on the field. I'll be tenting it Friday night beside the wing. This is the only time I think Cessna's have an advantage!

It looks like the hurricane is going to cancel this one. Stay tuned to the weather. If the weather is ok, the show will go on!

Mary and I cancelled the beach weekend. I'm holding out for good Wx Saturday and hope I can get in.

Can you camp on the field?

FYI- 9 hole course just south of the airport

I was planning on camping but didn't go due to weather. I'm waiting to see what the weather looks like in the morning before deciding.

Looks Like I won't make it today. Weather here was lousy this morning. Clearing up a little now but it's too late to make it.

Overcast here but doable. Not sure I like being locked down at OXB until 4:30 with the TFR.
