Gastons 2009 - 3M0

Orbiting Earth
I was up a Gaston's this weekend previewing the area before our annual BAC to Gaston's weekend.

Who all is considering coming to Gaston's for the Saturday November 7 fly in?

We've been soggy this year in Arkansas, over 61 inches of rain I believe that they said. Gaston's strip was the wettest I've ever seen it; however, it's wasn't too wet for use, as there were a good 7 or 8 planes there that day.

If we can get at least 4 days without rain leading up to November 6 and 7, it will get alot better I'm sure.

Anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks
JB

Paula, Skye, and I are planning to be there, if all goes well. We have cabin reservations as usual.

We're planning on it. Fly up Sat AM, stay Sat night (there or somewhere close) and fly home Sunday AM.

Got my little cabin by the river reserved. Now if they river just doens't wash it all away before next Friday...

The weather gods have it out for us!
When I went out to get the paper at 6:00, it was clear, clear, clear. The moon was so bright, I cast a shadow over the paper as I bent down to pick it up.

We showered, dressed and finished packing and here's what it was at 8:00:

KTKI 071353Z 19007KT 2SM BR OVC003 14/14 A3011 RMK AO2 SLP200 T01440144
32nm north at (Grayson County):
KGYI 071404Z AUTO 16010KT 10SM CLR 14/13 A3010 RMK AO2

Not expected to burn off until around noon. which closes the window on us. The weather here is forecast to be iffy tomorrow for getting home, so .....

sniff, sniff...

Mike R: Oh, awriteee... heading to lunch without you. Hate that we missed you both.

Had a great time this year. Enjoyed seeing Mike, Paula, Dean, and Dohnae!

Might get to post some pictures in a day or so of the near miss between a 172 and 310... Sorry we missed you Bo.

Mike R: You ain't kidding! Bo was gonna be the money man for a BAC Fly-In lunch!

Sorry we missed again. This is one of my favorite fly-ins; but Angel was down with LG problems and awaiting a part for the gear actuator on left MLG. Next year!

I have submitted the PT points for November's 'BAC to Gastons' to Chris (in a PM from the BAC website). Mike R by far led the field on this trip where suprise weather around Dallas kept Bo out of the running.

Hopefully those miles will show up on the web in a few days. Looks like Mike stands to jump about 10 spots based on Gaston's. Thanks
