at this point I am in. I am not sure if my wife will be joining me or not. Is this an all or nothing event, or can we opt to attend part of the event? I am on vacation in Fl from July 8- Aug 1. Then going to try an make Oshkosh. Not sure if I can add in the extra time, although I am a school teacher. :D This might be the first time I get to pull the plane out for a BAC event.

Erick, no problem with picking and choosing what to attend, It is a really packed weekend with the option of making a day ,afternoon or overnight. The idea of an airport loaded with planes turned into a Drive in style movie theater next to a golf course with Caddyshack playing should be a good start to the weekend. For the family there is hiking,Mini golf, Zip lines, Swimming (both indoor and at the lake). Here are some links http://www.bryceresort.com/Summer/Other-Summer-Activities.aspx http://www.jimmystavern.com http://www.flyingcircusairshow.com/ http://www.airnav.com/airport/VG18 http://www.airnav.com/airport/KCJR http://www.airnav.com/airport/KHWY

The MC of the FLY- IN movie will be John Barmon .He is the actor who played Spaulding Smails in the movie Caddyshack. He will also be joining us in DC the next day for the Fourth of July Parade flyover and BAC party @ Jimmy's Old Town Tavern.

Please be advised not to park in front of Jimmy's with your sun roof open!!!

John
Thanks for doing all the work on this. Sound like things are starting to come together. I promise I will start asking around for a few door prizes after the holidays.

Erick

If anybody thinks they are going to make this event .Especially the July 3 Golf/Movie stay over at Bryce Resort with the Culpeper Parade Fly over on the Fourth ( with our new member Kevin from White Hawk Aviation). Please let me know. We can only fit 30 planes at the airport .I have the Yankee Assoc, two flight schools and some other aviation clubs and meet up groups that want to be a part of this. I have started golf reservations with a local golf academy that is offering group lessons with registration along with a flight school package that is including introductory flights with registrations .Possibly even a Helicopter doing a ball drop for prizes. This will be a fun crazy time.

July 4th week and December 31st week are the two weeks a year I can not take off. I will see what I can do about the weekend. John you've worked so hard on this I wish I could be a part of it. May be next time. Donald

News letter has been distributed to all Mid Atlantic with details of event .All of the regional directors have a copy .Pm me if you want a copy or contact your RD. Just received approval for camping out with A/C that night of movie (we have electricity, restroom on location and morning showers available through the golf club). American Helicopters of Manassas Va has just joined in with taking care of the "Helicopter Golf Ball Drop" . The record for Bryce is 28 planes .We are going for 30 . Weather is the only obstacle from this being Epic .Here is a golf ball drop video link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Axqb1J4Tqr8 c

I will be there for the 3rd and then the Culpeper Flyover on the 4th. I'll probably go back home after that and hopefully rejoin for Bryce Fest.

Okay everyone event registration is now public !!! Here is the registration Link

News Bulletin . Grand prize for the BAC SWING golf tournament ( determined by helicopter ball drop is a Mission Certificate to take a flight aboard the B-17 "Memphis Belle" which was used in the filming of the movie Memphis Belle.) It will not be at the Golf Event but a future Mid Atlantic fly in where hopefully we will have some more pilots interested in going for a flight. I have a discounted rate available to any of our members that would like to help support this piece of aviation history. The plane tours the country and they would love you to come out and take a flight. The normal rate is $450 a flight. Contact me if interested . They have been very receptive and generous toward supporting us with the golf event.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZO6UtAfxEM

The Flying Circus has also offered us a special for Sunday July 6ths airshow . Bi-plane rides will also be available . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHPTQXzvvJQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W514ObsUqfo

Memphis Belle was recently at our airport here in Hanover. What an awesome plane and piece of aviation history! Despite the 450 per ticket price for what amounts to about a 1/2 hour low level flight, there was no shortage of people willing to pony up. Since I work near the airport, I got to listen to and watch this plane take off and land numerous times. Wow. Also, I got to talk to the mechanics and they gave my friend and his wife a free tour of the plane, great group of folks.

60 day count down .If you think you are going to make this event .Any of the four days or all of them let me know. John Barmon (the actor who played Spaulding Smails has his airfare confirmed and is our guest ) It is $125 a golfer and that will cover Golf, Movie ,food and prizes. If you have family ,guests or don't want to Golf the resort has a lot of other things to do . If interested in any of the events contact me. I am working to make this inexpensive and very memorable for everyone. Bryce on Thursday, Culpeper on Friday with DC fireworks ,Jimmy's old town tavern. Holiday Inn Express Herndon. (the new DC metro subway station is scheduled to open that weekend with service to Reston/Herndon.) The Flying Circus airshow on Sunday will be a blast also.
