Orbiting Earth
FYI, It only hit 20 knots crosswind .
Paul ,Donna and Obie the Wonder dog landed after myself. On the radio inbound Paul was overheard talking to the local banner tow pilot. I was proud of my 138 knot groundspeed (77 on the way home BTW) until Paul told me he was at 158 knots. If Marty had more time with Paul's plane at BACFEST 2013 there probably wouldn't be such a gap .
Dan from the VA/NC face book pilots association met us and transported us over the island. I think he is a official BEECH NUT ( even wife and kids) now. The Facebook group didn't make it in by the time I left . Paul has pictures to show a perfect crosswind landing .I have to admit that they were not photo shopped. Always great to see Alan when he arrived , but as with protocol. The island isn't big enough for 3 Mid Atlantic Regional Directors .So I had to head for Dodge City. I don't know what would have happened if Gary Boyce were to show.
I have a feeling some pictures were taken of me leaving with a crosswind ,but don't believe what you see on the internet.
7 hours flying today. Just before leaving Leesburg a newly restored 60's Musketeer took off just before me.(non member) Just before fueling @ Chesapeake Va a Sundowner did a touch and go.(I am not sure if they are a member) ( When I was there the fueling guy told me not to be surprised by all the camera crews because they were filming "Airplane Repo" .Who ever is getting repo'd there, everyone at the airport must hate the guy because it is no secret.
. We had a Airshow in Manassas, VA today and a Neighbor sends me a picture of what he calls a Sundowner (really a Sport) that is giving demos for "Pilots for Christ" (Steve "Wizard" Koski). So all in all I got to see 6 Baby Beeches today .
Ps . looking forward to meeting you David . There is no one that will criticize a pilot's call on weather or anything.Always better safe than sorry. It was a memorable approach and landing .I don't know it that is a positive thing.
