BACFest 2011

Just wanted to remind you all that tomorrow is the cut-off for hotel rooms for BACFest 2011. After tomorrow, the hotel will not be reserving rooms for attendees. After that, rooms within our reservation block go back to the open market. If you plan on attending and want to assure that you have a room at the hotel then get the reservations in by tomorrow.

Hi gang,

Steve will be there, Sharmalie will be at home in England this year during Bfest time frame. That leaves me the option to top her off for the flight from Washington DC., if I'm lucky ATC will route me in between dulles and washington, cuts about 30 mins or more off the flight, if I don't make it on time you can safely assume that I've had an encounter with an F16 intercept. See ya folks there, oh by the way, the Ipad is mine, right?

Steve

Guys, has anybody been to this hotel? The on line reviews from the link on this site really give them a bashing.

Steve

Steve,

I don't know if anyone has stayed there, but it is a little late in the game to be reconstructing BACFest 2011.

Just a heads up. I just tried to make my reservations at the hotel and was told that the rate is $149 per night. I have a call into the Director of Sales as our contract indicates a room rate of 109.95. If anyone else has booked at the higher rate, we will work to get the straightened out.

Thanks.

Dan, I thought that rate issue was common early on. I had the same problem but they straightened it out. Would have thought they'd have it ironed out by now.

Hopefully this was just an anomoly then. I will have them follow-up to make sure that all received the negotiated rate.

Thanks.

Well, we finally registered. Mary can not get off work Friday so we decided to spend the night at home and at least drop maggie off for boarding. We plan on bugging out of here EARLY saturday morning so we can make breakfast with our fellow BAC Fest attendees! 08Romeo will be pulling at the tie downs to see her family members!

It also looks like we can hook up with Marys friends in Rome NY on Sunday so it will still be a busy weekend! We are looking forward to meeting BAC members and having fun at our 1st BACfest!

No problems with the rate when I booked this morning.

T minus 3 weeks and counting!

If you want some official BACFest gear before arriving in Ithaca, check out what's available: T-Shirts, sweatshirts, gym bag, travel mugs and more.
Even if you can't be there, celebrate BAC's biggest event with some cool stuff.

Bump.

Just trying to keep it on the Home page so people don't forget.

It's a little over three weeks away now.

I'm coming solo - with all the travel the last 3 months and more in October we had to limit our time away and some of our travel spend a bit and this one is about as far from SD as we are likely to get. Due to the best value and schedule and timing of flights and cars and some piggy backed travels I'm driving up from BWI Wednesday night and Thursday AM - so I should be in comfortably lunch or just a bit after. I'm driving back South on Sunday. If anyone needs a ride or gets stranded somewhere near but S/SW let me know. I'm deliberately going as north as roads allow from Baltimore to stay well west of Philly and the Big Apple but routing is flexible. Timing is pretty flexible too going up - not so much coming back with having a 5pm flight out of BWI Sunday.

Tom,

You can come. I would suggest Saturday, go home on Sunday am. Gets you into the luncheon and dinner and probably the most bang for the buck. Otherwise, airport day will be on Friday.

Hey everyone, we have a BOLO (Be On the LookOut) as we approach BAC Fest
This year we would like to have all of our banners on display. Usually they are in the custody of the Regional Directors. However we have a couple that have gone astray and are probably in someone's basement or garage.
We are looking for the INTERNATIONAL Region and the MID-ATLANTIC Region banners.
If you have either of them, let me know and then ship it to me; address below. If you have seen either of them in the last couple years, let us know on this forum and we will try to track them down.
Thanks in advance

Hey gang,

Sorry if I missed this somewhere else, but what's the process to get from the airport to the hotel this year, taxi, camel or whatever may be open? does the hotel have a free shuttle?

Steve

Hey Steve,
No camels...they don't deal well with upstate NY winters. Taxi is the likeliest option and the FBO (Taughannock Aviation) can get you the best deal.
Last year we had it good with those minivan taxis and fixed rates. Pack the car full for the same price as one and go see San Antonio. But at least there are several compteing taxi services in Ithaca.
Alternatively, you can also get rentals from the FBO. Or you can fish for your best deal...there are rental outlets at the passenger terminal.
Some of us will have rentals for operational purposes so look for a BAC officer when you arrive. You might get lucky.

PS: Shoe leather is an option as the hotel is only 1.1 miles from the FBO. But there are no sidewalks!!:(
