All,

Mike D. asked me to post this for all you folks who can't make BACfest or just won't get enough going to BACfest... It's the Kobelt NY (N45) Annual Wheels and Wings event in the beatiful apple orchard country of - upstate or downstate (depending on your perspective) New York... The very first event was held last year - and - while the weather didn't allow for any planes to make it in - it was very successful... We must have had around 75 cars - and half a dozen planes stationed on the field with a couple hundred people... The food was excellent - the stuff I ate was catered by Nu-Cavu - the on field restaurant... They had live music as well... Come one - come all...

Tom - if you can't find the field this time - we'll have someone on the radio talk you in...
:)

Scott Brunner suggests a great fly-in opportunity. This is a central location in the Northeast Region. It's a fun funky airport. Tests your navigation skills to arrive there.
Participate with your airplane and you will earn a beautiful BEECH BUM Tshirt. Members only.

Be alert to any arrival/departure limitations that Scott might report.

Hope to see you guys there...
:)

"Be alert to any arrival/departure limitations that Scott might report." like slow moving cars with some obscure band filming music videos while driving down the center of the runway - LOL - my first landing there...

Hi Folks,

Success !!!

Just landed back at home - still need to clean the bugs off the plane... Bud and Mike in conjunction with the Rotary Club put on a stellar event... The pulled pork sandwiches along with the potato salad was the stuff legends are made of... Great live music - probably well over 100 cars and maybe a dozen planes... I was really shocked at the lack of planes because the weather was perfect...

When I left around 0800 for Kobelt this AM everything was solid IFR in the area - quick call to Mike for a local PIREP had Kobelt in severe clear though - funny thing about it was there was solid low level fog all around except for this big hole around Kobelt - the weather gods favored us today...

Anyway - next year will be bigger and better - so mark you calendar folks - when you feel that early morning Autumn chill in the air - it's time to head for the beautiful rolling apple orchards of New York State...

We had Wayne from MA - Dave from NJ - Mike with his lovely wife Dawn and father-in-law Bud - and myself with Jackie...

Wayne - so sorry - we lost you in the crowd and I didn't get the chance to speak more to you before you left - next time well have to have a smaller fly-in closer to your home...

Oh - and everyone feel free to chastise Jackie - AS SHE FORGOT THE CAMERA !!! What a fly-in without pictures ???
:)

It was a great day to be flying - catch you guys next time...

And hey - let's be careful out there !

Regards,
Scott

I never had so many bugs, like today to clean off...Lol
My windshield looked like a hornets nest when I got back.
Scott,
What airplane won the prize?
Dave

Hi Dave,

I think it was one of the older Cessna tail draggers... Bud actually made all the trophies for the event...

Oh - and I forgot Steve and his wife "unix chick" attended as well... This is the guy who was at the bar and we coincidently met at our first BAC fly-in to Kobelt a few years back... He's never flown to a BAC event with his nice Sierra - I'm working in him...

Regards,
Scott
