Thunder Over the Valley Air Show - Youngstown, OH (KYNG) - Saturday, May 17, 2014

Are we able to fly-in to the airport? This could also be a fun weekend! Thanks, John, for posting so many opportunities.

Yes. When Erick contacted me about hosting the fly-in that is what he told me. It is a public airport. I would imagine like most air shows there will be a TFR during the performances. I have reached out to Erick for an update. Hopefully he will post something soon on times etc.

John
sorry for not getting back to you, I have been working on getting this trip together to go pick up the parts planes. We leave tomorrow evening.
As for the fly in, I have called the Reserve Base in Youngstown and they will only take one of each plane for a static display for the airshow. And Oh by the way you have to fill out paperwork that has to be submitted to the pentagon. No thanks.... Tomorrow I am going to try and get in touch with a couple of the FBO's at YNG to find us some parking. If all else failes I am about 35 min drive time from the airport. This is last resort fly into 3G6 and drive over.
I will keep you all updated on my findings....

I called youngstown again today to determine if they are going to allow planes to fly in. I am instructed to wait until the 1st and call back, I guess there is going to be some kind of meeting on the 31st. I will keep you all posted.

Erick

I spoke to Katie at Winner Aviation last Friday about the air show. She called me back to today with an update. It looks we will be able to fly in before and after the air show. She will be e-mailing me with the tentative TFR. She is not sure how much parking will be available. She said make sure you arrive early and that they are looking forward to having us. I am expecting further updates from Katie as they become available. Below is an updated link to the air show.

It has been a bit wet over a week now in the Midwest. Trying to get a feel on how many are planning on attending. The air show is a two day event. We can have the fly-in tomorrow or move it to Sunday our rain date. Let's here from you.

Well John, it looks like you and I are the only ones that are thinking about going. Due to the weather tomorrow, I am going to shoot for sunday.
