Attention all those coming to Lakeland for Sun-n-Fun:

1) all volunteers will have your pass for the days you are working plus a parking pass at the front desk of the Hilton Garden Inn on Drane Field Rd. They are charging $5 for parking this year. All volunteers have a Yellow parking pass for Sun-n-Fun. The Yellow lot is located near Handicap. Just go as far as you can then right along fence to security gate. Yellow Lot is close to Vintage aircraft parking.

2) Night Air show will be hosted on the observation deck at the Hilton Garden Inn on Drane Field Rd. (come around to back right side and you will see stairs leading to deck. I will be flying the SouthEast BAC banner on railing). Try to get there before 8pm.

3) Dinner Thursday will be at Bonefish Grill in Lakeland. It is located at the corner of W. Pipkin and S. Florida. Reservations are for 6pm. Please don't be late!

Call my cell if you have any questions,
Doug

The tree and tent are ready to go. Notice the tree has all the convenience of home. Private toilets. :)

Yeah, Ron the pet gator is not around the tree this year. :)

Great dinner last night with 10 BACers and an even bigger dinner with over 30 tonight. We had the BAC President, Southeast Director, Southcentral Director, and Southwest Director at dinner last night also. Where were all the Northern folk? Nice and sunny with no snow down here.

Doug

Thank You Doug from us as well. The BAC dinner and the night air show were awesome. We're meeting a lot of new Beech friends!

Doug Muse-
Thanks for a great job at Sun 'N' Fun. I only got to be there for one day but I met some BAC folks that I had not met before and had a great time at my first Sun 'N' Fun. I will be back next year and I plan to stay longer this time!

Wonderful to see some familiar faces there, too.

Fantastic job putting it all together, Doug! It is no small feat getting things together for this event and you did a beautiful job! Thank you on behalf of all BAC members!

All for one!
Chris

Dear Doug,

It was nice to meet you, Mike, Bo and Sandra and the other members at Lakeland. The dinner on Thursday was fabulous!! Thank You!

Also, thank you for the passes in exchange for working our tent.

The '75 Sierra, as tired as it is (1950 hrs TT, on the original engine), did a fantastic job up and back. Flew into Pilot Country (X05) airport (flew into Lakeland once during the show 5 years ago, that's enough!). Florence (FLO) had a 20cent/gal fuel discount on fuel going down; 30cent/gal on the return! Total time with 1 stop was 6.5 hrs from FDK. On the way down we also landed at Jekyll Island (09J), just for fun!

Regards,

Ted

Sun-n-Fun was a blast! Very interesting visit for me. I found we may have some more vendor support and we are going to work to firm the ties we established there. My group took a side tour to the Kermit Weeks museum. That was well worth the time as he has some neat stuff to see. They give you a discount for being at Sun-n-Fun too. I'm sorry I couldn't stay longer as others in my group had firm agendas. Really wanted to do the Thursday night dinner. Hopefully, I can make that next year.

Events planned:
Wed - dinner for early arrivals
Thu - big dinner (get confirmations as reservations are required)
Fri - night air show gathering

Volunteers:
This was the longest process of signing up people for the type club tent. Once completed, then contacted the volunteer group for type clubs and filled out the forms. Each volunteer got two daily passes and a free parking pass to the volunteer lot (closer than handicap).

Club areas:
We set up a table at the type tent and set up about 5 chairs around the big oak tree. This year we had a banner around the tree. We always locked the chairs to the tree so they don't walk away. We always set up the tree the day before the show opens.

Events:
Just plan what you can and hope people show up. We had the dinner on Friday the last few years, but moved to Thursday this year for the night air show.

I am looking for members who wish to help coordinate everything next year. I may not be able to attend the full week in 2010. Let me know if you wish to help.

Doug

We had close to 50 people attend Sun-n-Fun this year! The PT points will be posted later. If you attended and didn't sign up on any sheet please let me know.

Thanks,
Doug

Heck
I was trying to find the spot but didn't know where it was. Back on BAC now and still plane-less.

We got as far as Hattiesburg, MS on Monday before the weather stopped us. From there to Mesquite, TX on Wed. 25 miles from T31, but solid thunderstorms from Denton to Texarkana. Sandra's nephew (lives in Mesquite) took us home and the Go Everywhere Mouse spent Wed and Thu nights on the ramp at HQZ.

I flew it home Yesterday under a 2500' overcast.

Other than that, it was a great trip.

Bo & Sandra

Thanks for the help getting the picture posted. Credit to Bill Mannhein for clearing up some of the haze in the picture.
