Why is it every time I plan to meet some Beech brothers I wake up to LOW IFR? When you're a newbie VFR pilot it sure makes getting your IR ticket punched appealing. Although it's 200 ft and less than a mile right now so I'd probably still feel frustrated.....

It doesn't really get any less frustrating after 15 years, though you do get used to it.

I don't know if it's still in effect but at one time BAC had a policy of granting one year's free membership to anyone who got a new rating (not endorsement) to encourage members to get their instrument rating.

Getting the PPL qualified too.
