BACFest Arrivals

If anyone wants a ground ride from Charlotte, Shelby, Asheville let me know. I can pick up on Thursday afternoon. Leaving CLT around noon.

To all,
Sorry guys, but I can't make it. Last minute issues kept me in Melbourne.
Have fun over there!

Mark,

Now I don't feel nearly as bad about missing BAC Fest now that I know I'm not missing an opportunity to have a cold one with you.

We were hoping to be on the road 30 minutes ago, .....

We will have to file IFR just to get out of the driveway. And the IFR we will be using (I Follow Roads) is "no separation services provided". We do not want to be on interstate when the RVR is "can't see the end of the block" and vertical visibility is <100'.

We'll leave when the visibility improves. Still plan to be in G'Burg Thursday PM.

Bob and Jennifer made it as far as Lexington, KY in the Sundowner. Briefer gave us the bad news abour mountain obscuration on our route, and not being IFR proficient (yup, I'm legal), decided to rent a car and drive the rest of the way. We took a side trip to Crossville to look at rental condos and spent the night there. We'll be in Sieverville sometime Wednesday afternoon.

Drat the Cote curse!!!

Everybody be careful and make the right decisions! Even though BACFest is the annual BIG show, there is always next year! Just use your good judgment.

All for one!

Steve - is this your fault ???

I'd swear that KGKT is dead center of that IFR blob...
And of course - it's a beautiful day here in the North East !!!

That's 1/2 the freakin' country! Even a fly-in can't be blamed for IMC in 1/2 the country!!

I'm driving to my speaking engagement in Neeces, SC on Thursday...not flying in this garbage.

Fly Safe everyone!

I'm still hoping to come up Friday AM, and it's going to be beautiful VFR (although I'm IFR rated, not current enough to fly in heavy IMC) Paul Jones

"Even a fly-in can't be blamed for IMC in 1/2 the country!! "

One of my favorite New Yorker cartoons:

Employee, in the boss's office, getting "dressed down."

Boss says "I didn't say it was your fault. I said I'm going to blame you."

In spite of Steve's best efforts, I WILL be at the Oak Tree Lodge tomorrow night...unfortunately via US Airways to KTYS and rental car from there.

I look forward to meeting y'all.

I will be driving down instead of flying and arrive tomorrow morning. What are the plans for tomorrow with the weather the way it is?

Hi John and others!

Tomorrow the plan was/is a fly-out to Tullahoma and the Beechcraft Heritage Museum. At this point, we are waiting for tomorrow morning's weather report to make the call. It is 50-50 whether or not we will go.

If not, then everyone is on their own. There is the aviation museum and lots to see and do around Sevierville-Gatlinburg. If we do launch for Tullahoma, the plan is to be at the airport around 9 or 9:15 am local.

Hope this helps!

We are spending the night in a lush Hampton 20miles east of Nashville. Should be there in time for at least a late lunch.

Mark and I won't be arriving until mid-day on Friday. I'm flying from MSP to CLT. Mark will be flying from SAN to CLT on an OVERNIGHT flight Thursday evening getting into CLT at 6AM Friday morning. You might have to cut him a bit of slack on Friday...........he may be a walking zombie. He should be able to recover nicely for activities on Saturday. Better a short trip via commercial airlines than no trip at all! See you on Friday. Fly/drive safe!

Sheesh!
I put forward my best efforts...and all I get is Anger, Anger, Anger!

And every time someone bursts out of the cloud wall around KGKT and sees me standing alongside the runway, I hear them saying: "Damn! That explains everything."

Everyone stay safe. But those of us on the Ark, er, at BAC Fest are having a ball. [/u]

Can anybody tell me if Ron and Violet Powell have arrived safely yet? I'm guessing with the weather, they ended up driving from Iowa.

Thanks!
