BACFest 2018 Photos

Linda and I enjoyed BACFest and want to thank all who made it possible. We were the last Musketeer to leave KJVY at 11:30 a.m. local. We flew 4 hours to Beatrice, NE for refueling. While there we visited two of Linda's elderly cousins. Then we flew another 1 1/2 house to our home base in McCook and arrived at 8:10 p.m. local. We stayed low and had the winds from Florence push us along with about a 10 knot tail wind. That died off when we got over Missouri. In Nebraska we had a 10 knot head wind when eventually subsided. Good weather though for flying. Looking forward to next year.

As planned, two days to home. Sunday we stayed overnight again at Kansas City Wheeler Downtown (use the free GA parking, SS fuel pretty cheap). Winds were pretty good, especially compared to Monday. Headwinds all the way Monday and somebody put up a big TFR right by 20V in my low valley route home! Good for aerial fire fighting but with all the storms dumping rain we got to go a different way, through a tighter valley. Got up close and personal with the Colorado fall colors. I'll have to steal (I mean borrow) Anne's camera for some of the photos. At least the flightaware.com log is up and it's interesting (thanks for pointing that out Greg).

Great to see all and have such a good time.

Looks like Leili and I missed a good time!

I can say that we both would have enjoyed being with all. Oh, well, there is always next year.

Speaking of which, where/when is BCCfest next year ?

I think Candy has already dropped a clue in #36. I believe Colorado is very pretty in the fall.

FYI.

Ok. Iâ€™m always double checking my credit card transactions after trips and purchases just to be sure there arenâ€™t any errors.

I see pending transactions for the Galt House Hotel $584.02 run twice? Once on 9/14 and again on 9/16 at checkout. Wow, this higher than my room bill and charged twice?

I gave them a courtesy call, this morning. They explained that this will all sort itself out and reconcile to the correct checkout invoice, probably today.

I think some hotels cover and protect themselves a little against rockstar damages with these practices, but Iâ€™m not expecting it. They must have seen me with JP?

Yes, very typical of hotels to post a pending transaction immediately upon check-in, just to confirm that the credit card is good. Sorry wdnd5960, I forgot to tell them you hold the highest credit rating in BAC!

When you check out, they charge the final account to the card. The initial charge never (usually) makes it out of the pending category.

Our flyout was to Sporty's Pilot Shop at Clermont Co., Ohio (I69). Hal Shevers, founder of Sporty's spoke to the group as we lunched on their delicious Brats, Metts and Smoked Sausages.
