BAC to Ohio

Morn'n Folks,

In search of a Fly-In I can actually - fly - into - as I keep missing out due to weather... Maybe I'll have better luck in the North Central region ??? I haven't really flown in that direction before so it would be kind of cool as a new experience... Seems the next one that is in realistic range for me is in Ohio on a Sunday... Since it is kind of a long haul - I was planning to make a weekend out of it (weather permitting)... 8 to 10 hours in a plane - depending on winds - is a bit much for my girlfriend in a single day... Anyone else planning on going to this event ??? Can I get a PIREP for the area - decent place to stay - attractions - something to do on Saturday - etc etc etc...

Scott,
I have been to Bolton Field and JP's Ribs several times. It will be worth the trip. KTZR is a towered field just to the southwest and outside of Columbus Class C airspace. Easy, friendly airport. Car rentals are available and hotels of all shapes and sizes a few miles toward town. Haven't done much in Columbus, but here's a tourism website: http://columbusoh.about.com/od/artsentertainment/u/Things_to_Do_Path.htm#s3

I plan to attend and will bring a few guys with me from 27K. We're a little over an hour's flight south. See you there.

Hey guys!

I'm a new BAC member located in Columbus. I'll be just getting back from vacation on the 9th but will plan
to come out. Not an owner (yet) but will look forward to meeting any attendees- assuming the weather
cooperates- it's been pretty nasty here all year!

Jim

Hi Jim,

Welcome to BAC - sir... What do you fly and where do you fly from ??? These are definately great little planes and a blast to fly... I learned in a 172 - and - I would never be happy going back to them... Yeah - we really need a break on the weather - I haven't had a decent trip since last year... Hope to see you there...

Regards,
Scott

Hi Jim,

Yes indeed, welcome to the club. Looking forward to meeting you and saying hello. Surely the weather will be cooperating by July 10. There are ribs and barbecued chicken that need to be consumed!

Hey guys!

Moved here about 2 years ago and finally started flying out of Marysville (kmrt). They had a great Archer with 430 and autopilot until the engine went kaput. Owner didn't seem interested in fixing so the leaseback fell apart. Now they have a 180hp 172 that I got checked out but- ick- I learned in Cessna but really don't like them anymore- except maybe the 177. I'm in the market for a Sundowner or Super III and talking with a couple of sellers now but nothing firm.

Hope to see all of you on the 10th!

Jim

We are a week away from the fly-in. Based upon the responses it looks like we will have a good turn out. I talked to Carol at JP's after I learned they have putt putt, horseshoes, and volleyball. All are available before they open at noon. So, if any of you would like to join me before we eat for horseshoes etc. let me know. I'll move up my arrival time.

Morn'n Folks,

I'm tentatively planning to cut through KPIT's Bravo via an airway - with radar services... How are the controllers there ??? Friendly to VFR traffic ??? While I know it's no big deal - I've never flown in a Bravo before...
:)

Regards,
Scott

Hi John,

Ann and I are planning to be there. The controllers at pit have alway been great. I really don't think they are that busy.

Just back in from "beach" vacation. I'll drive the 14 miles and plan to be there around 11:30-11:45.

Morn'n Folks,

So what did I miss - PIREP ??? Pix ??? I missed flying on the absolute best weekend of the year...
:(

Hi Scott. Sorry you couldn't make it. John, Jim and I enjoyed various combinations of barbecued ribs and chicken. Indeed it was a great day to fly! John was taking pictures, so he may have them available soon. See you at the next one.
