BAC Day

Let's adopt TomTerrific's date and then we can blame him.

Sunday May 5, 2013. Midnight local to midnight local.
Get your member plane in the air for any length of time (minutes or hours).
Report your flight times to [email protected].
Flight times will allow us to determine the greatest density of planes in the air at a given time.

I'll make it an official flying event for BAC Northeast members and award a BEECH BUM Tshirt for participating if all of the above is agreed to by this forum.

May 5 sounds like a "Beech of a day!" Let's do it.

John Persinger, Alan White, Paul Werbin: Any plans for the Virginia Festival of Flight in Suffolk, VA that weekend?

Like I said, I'll be at a Corvair convention. I've organized a fly-in there the past 2 years with minimal participation so I didn't worry about it this year. In the past I've flown in a compound and camped out. I took an easy-up with chairs, grill and steaks for everyone but no one showed at all last year and only a couple the year before.

Sure you will. I'm still waiting on my Beech Bum T-Shirt from the ice landing fly-in!

Ladies and gentlemen and the rest of you too: Next Sunday is Cinco de Mayo and we need a concerted effort to get as many BAC aircraft off of the planet on that date. The rules are simple. The flight can be for one minute or 6 hours, no matter. We just want you in the air. After the flight, write up your experience and send it to the special site that Tom Corcoran has set-up. Thank you in advance for taking part in this monumental program. Tom

Drats, I'm down for annual!

But, from my foreign travels I do know a bit about Mexican history. During the occupation of Mexico by the French, Maximilian was the emperor of Mexico. He was pretty oppressive as a dictator and the Mexicans didn't like him much. There was an uprising and Max got offed by the revolutionaries. The French army decided that they shouldn't hang around, so they departed Mexico City for the nearest port East, Vera Cruz. But, being in Mexico for so long, the French became addicted to the Mexican condiment of mayonnaise. The French army, during it's trek East absconded all the mayonnaise they could find and loaded this treasure on their boats awaiting their departure in the port. Unfortunately for the French, the revolutionaries arrived in the hills over looking the port and opened up on the French fleet with their cannons before they could depart. Almost every French boat was sunk in the port of Santa Cruz. And so became the Mexican celebration of the event, now known as Sinko-de-Mayo.

Marty,
You are worse than an old piece of rope......................................Pretty twisted!

I knew we had more in common than just planes!

N2301L is in. Any others in and around Orlando, maybe we can get together for lunch-- Deland, Albert Whitted? On another wholly unrelated subject, does anyone know if a 12V blender will work in our panel outlets? No particular reason, just asking.

I hope to be in Talladega, Al that day watching the Sprint Cup race with my son. Depending on the weather we will probably fly back that night, so I hope to be in the air for about 4 hrs that day.
wish me luck, this will be my longest flight to date.

N2338J will be up weather permitting! Anyone else near KLNS (Lancaster, PA) wants to meet somewhere for lunch?

I will sweaten the BAC Day deal for Sunday!

Any airport in the Northeast Region will qualify for this offer.

You can earn a BEECH BUM Tshirt for a short flight. To qualify get in your plane and fly on 5/5 to an airport of your choice, not your home base. If you meet two more BAC members there I will call it a fly-in for all and each pilot gets a BEECH BUM Tshirt.

This is to encourage getting off the ground, a good excuse to go flying.

Use this thread to invite other members to join you by announcing where you are flying. (John Doe flying N12345 on 5/5 to KXXX arriving at 11:00am local)

Be sure to report (individually) your trip to [email protected].

My announcement: Tom Corcoran flying N5162M on 5/5 to Skylark Airpark 7B6 (Near KBDL) Windsor, Connecticut arriving at 10am.

Wish I could join this event. Anywhere. But I will be finishing up a Backpacking trip and it will be a no fly day for me.

Geez Jim!
Yes we flew in Florida a lot but not all over.
I have to examine what you say... you being a lawyer and all.
You did take me over a 15,000' runway at Kennedy Space Center.
We didn't come close to those two panes flying in the other direction did we?
Who did the most screaming that day? You or me?
As for a Tshirt... I'll send you one... but it won't be a BEECH BUM Tshirt unless you come to the Northeast Region.
What's your Tshirt choice: A) Fun Day at my granddaughter's grammer school or B) the one I use painting around the house?
Send your reply to: Haven't a Chance, Box 6999, Flying Beech, Rhode Island 02185

Sorry, but the plane is in the shop...............new S-tec auto pilot but the work will not be ready until next week. I will be there in spirit.

Rick

I also will be there in spirit. 45L is very close to flying again after being beat up by Sandy - I'll post when I do fly her back home.

Eric Grill... aka hitsnorth... Nice Try!

The only flying that counts for this offer is on Sunday.
Then report it AFTER the flight to [email protected]

All other activity on this matter constutes fraud and will be dealt with accordingly.

Note: Any Northeast member can post a fly-in on the calendar. If it's done five days in advance it can be approved for PT points or BEECH BUM Tshirts.
