AOPA Expo 2008

Mike S (aka Conway) is there an update on parking at Reid H? I haven't decided if I'm going on Friday or sat. I need to check with Aris and see what day or days work for him. Have we set an airport and day for the BAC gathering?

Attention Bay Area members and those flying in to the Expo:

Let's plan a dinner in the San Jose area maybe Thursday or Friday night. Respond to this thread if you can make and night preference. I will email/call those to plan the details.

Doug

Bob,

I do not know about parking yet. I will call next week to see what is up at RHV. I was going to set up hosting a party at my home on Saturday, but my wife and I have a family event that weekend every year I have forgotten about in SF. I still want to attend an event if there is a dinner or something, so let me know folks.

BTW - I got my airplane home from BACFest (which did not even get close to the event). I have been doing some trouble shooting, but it still runs the batteries dead in 30 minutes or so. I guess the most likely issue is the alternator. My IA told me to get it tested (some place in Sacramento rebuilds them and test them, anyone know the name), and see if it is the alternator. I doubt it is the batteries.
Anyway, I am safe, and the airplane is safe as well.

We'll see you guys soon.
Mike

Hey guys,

It looks like I have to be in the Bay area Nov 3 to the 5th, so I'll extend my stay and get a ticket for a day or two to the Expo. Probably leave mid-day Sat. Looking forward to meeting up again. marshal

Hey Marshal,
That's great! Look forward to seeing you again! Maybe this time I'll really win the plane wash and polish!

Chris

Here is the list of attendees so far. Looks like a Friday dinner. Please email me at doug.muse at gmail.com if you are interested in a BAC dinner Friday night in San Jose.

Chris Linderman (arrives Friday)
Mark Gooderum (will be there for entire week)
Doug Muse (will be there for entire week)
Rick Spann (arrives Friday)
Bob Lewis (arrives Friday)
Mike Samac (live in the area)
Aris Westbrook (Bob's passenger - arrives Friday)
Marshal Whatley (will be there entire week)
Steven Frieson (arrives Friday)

Any others?

A Friday night dinner would be great, this is assuming we don't want to do the Friday night party at the Expo. I was thinking about getting a one day or a two day pass, but I was going to skip the extra party events. I'll have a car to help with the transportation, there are tons of great places (Santana Row) close by.

A dinner would be fine. I took a pass on the expo event. It is to difficult to talk with so many people in one area. I wouldn't mind a BAc dinner. Also, I'm flying to and from the event both days. Do I get PT points both days?

I need to start working on dinner plans for Friday. Here is the list of those attending from what I pulled from the thread.

Chris Linderman (arrives Friday)
Mark Gooderum (will be there for entire week)
Doug Muse (will be there for entire week)
Rick Spann (arrives Friday)
Bob Lewis (arrives Friday)
Mike Samac (lives in the area)
Aris Westbrook (Bob's passenger - arrives Friday)
Marshal Whatley (will be there entire week)
Steven Frieson (arrives Friday)

Dinner for Friday:
Chris and LeeAnne (50% owner)
Mark Gooderum
Bob Lewis and Aris Westbrook
Doug Muse

Any others? I would like to make reservations by Wednesday.

Thanks,
Doug

I count 15 people - maybe Gejnis (Benihana like). A reservation for a facing pair of tables would cover 12-16 without them getting too bent out of shape.

1st Ave N and Gish - walking distannce from SJC hotels and next to the VTA Gish light rail station..

6:30pm or 7:00pm??

Looks like the last seminars end at 5:30pm. Please respond to this thread or email to confirm your spot.

Thanks,
Doug

Doug,

I am good for Friday, but Chris and LeeAnne paid for the big AOPA gig that evening at the tech. I wonder if everyone wants to make it more simple and meet for h'orderves and drinks at the Marriot. I can be there, whatever we plan, but I will have to make a relatively early evening of it. Pam is getting ready for our big dinner/dance in SF on Saturday, and wants my help.

Good heavens, I have shuttled dresses for dry cleaning, took new tops to San Mateo for the sister in law today... I need a job so the women will quite abusing me! I am going golfing tomorrow at Parjo on the coast, so that will make up for the humiliation today! :D

Also, being I am retired (kicked to the curb) I am the RHV driver, 9:00am to 7:00pm from RHV to down town San Jose. I will be the RHV San Jose ambassador to San Jose for the day! :D To bad none of you guys are flying into RHV, I could be your Chauffeur!

I am meeting my IA at RHV on Friday to inspect the alternator installation you all may have seen on the site (I posted photos). After that, I am taking him to the AOPA convention for the afternoon. I figure I can meet at the Marriot at 5:00pm, perhaps 6:00pm for a few hours.

C'ya all soon!
Mike

Mike-
You are right. LeeAnne and I got the 2-day weekend passes which include the "Friday Night Party." According to the AOPA Expo brochure, it includes food and entertainment at the Tech Museum of Innovation. It has an IMAX film, simulators and other stuff. Sounds like something worth taking in....especially since we've paid for it!

I don't want to put a vote in to influence the group decision if we are not going to be going to whatever the group decides....did that make any sense?

Dang Chris! That Tech event Friday night is $80 a person.

OK, for those who are NOT going to the shin-dig on Friday let me know. :)

Yeah, I know...I guess I ought to go! Maybe a few will be up for a Saturday morning breakfast gathering some where?

Lemme know,
