Anyone interested in a 2nd fly-in at St. Augustine, FL in early December???

Claude (the AYA aera director) and I have agreed to make this a joint fly-in. He has held a fly-in for the Nights of Lights also. They had 30 people attend the last one in St. Augustine. We are trying to keep the cost of the Saturday evening meal to $25.00 per person and Friday's SAAPA party will be $10.00 per person. We will have Saturdays' meal at the SGJ conference center, as last year. The main issue now is reasonable priced motel rooms. We are still working on this, so when we secure a price, please be ready to make your reservation. They will go faster this year, than last.

I need to know if you are planning on attending. There will be a cut of of registrations on November 29th, 2013. Please contact me by e-mail ([email protected]) for information on registration.
Hope to see everyone (even Rap) there.

Dave

Sounds like another cat and mouse adventure. Actually, this is good for everyone involved. Good job, Dave.

And, Rap, I'm guessing if Jane is there and Dave is never seen, we wouldn't miss him, but should we really say that here? He must be good for something--she's keeping him around. ;^) (I only say this because that's the canoe I'm paddling.)

Thanks for your help, Johnny. I really appreciate everything you did. Without you, it would not be at this point.

Gary, you get Rap in that canoe with you, and I will see how many holes it takes to sink it. HA ! Remind me to tell you the shark joke!

Well, the good news is, there are at least 8 people planning on attending.

Dave

As you can see below, John Persinger started kicked off this relationship with the AYA/Grumman Owners Association, and this will be
a joint event with them also. I am looking forward to meeting and sharing experiences with these owners/pilots.

By way of introduction, I am Wes Chapman, south east US regional director of the
> AYA/Grumman Owners Association. We are a type club for the various "cat" models of
> Grumman GA aircraft. ( http://www.aya.org/ ). In coordination with John Persinger, regional
> director of the Beech Aero Club ( https://vbl.beechaeroclub.org ) we are seeking to arrange a
> series of "Cat and Mouse" fly ins in areas where our regions cross over.

Thank you,
Dave

Time is running out to register for the "Nights of Lights" fly-in at KSGJ (Northeast Florida Regional Airport) in St. Augustine, FL. This Friday, November 29th, is the last day to register. If you are coming after that, please e-mail me.
Thanks,
Dave

We had a nice time. We attended the SAAPA (St. Augustine Pilots Association) dinner on Friday night, the BAC dinner on Saturday night, and a tour of downtown St. Augustine for the "Nights of Lights" Charlie and Jean flew in from the Gulf Coast of Florida, James flew from Orlando, and Gary E. from Vero Beach. Tim V. drove from Camby, IN, FAST FRED from Flowery Branch, GA, Rap and Charlotte McBurney from Alexander City, AL. Local attendees were Charlie D, and Dave and Jane. Mike and Patty D, and Jane took care of the dinner with Noel S. providing the entertainment. Joe M. won the drawing.

Jane and I greatly appreciate the efforts that everyone made to attend this event. It was very nice to meet new members, as well as renew friendships from past years.

Winner of the drawing for a one year BAC membership was Joe M. from St. Augustine. We look forward to his first posting and a warm welcome from our BAC members.

Galaxy Aviation provided outstanding service to those who flew-in. The Sundowners and Sierra got the same service as the G5's; which included hotel and fuel discounts for all BAC attendees.

Thanks to all the attendees. We greatly appreciate their support.

had a great time (as always) and want to thank you and jane and others that went to the trouble to see it happened . again, thanks fred

We had so much fun, Charley, Jean, Gary and I are still here!!!! Sorry, couldn't resist. 1/4 visibility with coastal fog all day. I blame Galaxy, not Dave, despite his immense authority as SE director. At least Charley and Jean had the good sence to call it a day around 2:00. Gary hung on until about 3:30. I called it quits at 4:15. Now 5:36, sun has set, and still 19c, dp of 18c, 200 overcast and 1/4 mile visibility. Florida has its own fun quirks. TAF says it should be better tomorrow (and if they said wolverines make great house pets.....). Funny thing is, clear as a bell 2 miles east, but never got to 1 mile at field for even special VFR. Unplanned day off, oh well.

Charlotte and I want to add our thanks and appreciation for a great weekend provided by Dave and Jane Singleton. The SAAPA event Friday night was attended by 100+ folks, great time to make new friends. Saturday night included a BAC dinner, meeting, presentation by Noel Schoonmaker about how "The Aviator" movie flight scenes were made. It was very entertaining and informative. Meeting the BAC members in person, getting their perspectives on the Club, and engaging in some hangar flying was the hilight of the visit. The Night of Lights tour was spectacular. We had a great time, just wish we could have flown the mouse down and back. Maybe next year.

Rap

ps: Posted on the other Night of Lights post as well

Thanks to Dave and Jane for hosting. Really nice to meet some new folks, and see some folks I hadn't seen since last year. Sorry I wasn't able to make it for the dinner with SAPA on Friday.

Had to stay a day longer than planned, but that's how flying is, right? We had to sit at Galaxy Aviation all day with our fingers crossed that the fog would lift enough to make it out. Mother nature just didn't cooperate. Even if visibility had made it to 1 mile (it never made it past 1/2 mile), I don't know that SVFR would have been a good idea (at least for me).

Merry Christmas!!!
