Beechcraft Heritage Museum (THA) Saturday June 30 BAC Birthday party

Great, Curt, I will add you. We have a block of rooms @ $70 a night or you can stay in Tim's Ford at a house.....

How many guys will Tim’s Ford hold? Is it a four door? Pickup or van? May we use the house plumbing or are we on our own?

It’s a pickup. Two spots. They are reserved for you and CVH !!! And, yes, you are “on your own”!

What more could I ask for? Lol. I’m all in! I’m going to Tullahoma!!! Staying in Tim’s Ford!!! And peeing outside on the ground. Lol.

At least I still have enough water pressure to not pee on my shoes! Cloyd, probably not?

Let’s party!!!

I guess we're not going to make it to Tullahoma. On a flight today, my throttle cable housing broke leaving me without throttle control. I'm looking for a replacement cable but I don't think I could have it installed by Friday even if I could find one tomorrow. We were really looking forward to seeing everyone.

Curt,

Very sorry to hear it happened in-flight. I cannot imagine .....

Luckily, mine happened during the take-off roll - - - https://vbl.beechaeroclub.org/showt...-a-new-throttle-cable/page2?highlight=aborted

My McFarlane replacement was somewhat expensive and I ended up not using it. Actually, too robust in construction. I have the spec sheet used if you want a copy. I ended up giving it to another BAC member.

My solution was using a NOS from this outfit:

Rick Leatherwood
Arrell Aircraft
Oxnard, California
Phone: 805-604-0439

A perfect fit and made the replacement so much easier. They had several in stock in March 2015. And about 1/3 the cost of the custom made MacFarlane. You may choose differently ... but that is the route I took. Has worked beautifully since. Call if you want to discuss 210-834-1991

Curt,

A clarification to my post that is very important - - - - - I have a 1976 Sundowner 180. I do not know if the parts are the same ... or different.

I have worked with Rick Leatherwood of Arrell. He is very good to work with and very helpful. If he doesn't have a part, he usually will find who does and it will be discounted from the Beech prices.

Rick joined the club last month. His log on is Beechedout

Thanks Mike

Seems a rash of throttle issues. I had the bolt fastening the throttle cable assembly to the carb break. Thankfully it happened on run-up and in front of a maintenance shop. Kinda makes me wish we had a spring to go full throttle if the cable fails. I was stuck around 1600-1700 RPM.

Curt,

I’m glad you’re going to make it. I look forward to meeting you.

Gary,

Please use extreme caution as JP may be making another attempt at uncontrolled flight, today. Who does he talk to when nobody flies with him? Does he have a mannequin or possibly a blowup doll? It’s gotta be a blowup doll.

We were all taught; Aviate, Navigate and Communicate. But JP had dozed off in ground school class and only heard the Instructor say, “.....and Communicate. Remember and perform those three things in that order.” So, in his twisted, deviant, only partially programmed and ‘Abby normal’ brain, it’s Communicate, Communicate and Communicate. Have you flown with this guy??? If the opportunity ever presents itself? RUN! RUN!! RUN!!! For your life! As fast as you can, in the opposite direction!

As a way to "feel better" about the decision to be AOG due to a throttle cable: I have an airplane that is almost ready to fly again after nearly a year - due to a throttle cable. Landed long due to extra power on landing and went into the weeds. The extra power was due to the outer sheath being broken, thus being longer than usual, thus preventing pulling power all the way to idle. The amount of extra power was just a bit more than usual, so although there was a little bell WAY back in the subconscious there was no go-around performed.

I have a renewed respect for throttle cables. Y'all did good by not attempting flight with a broken aircraft!

It has come to our attention that Gary and Mary were involved in a aircraft incident this AM. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers . More details as they choose to release and share them.
