aukerinc

Initial Climb
Just wanted to let everyone know there is a Flyin and Carshow with a whole lot more on July 25. That's this Saturday and its forcast to be great weather. So anyone who can make it will enjoy a great pancake breakfast with sausage and eggs, open cockpit biplane rides, helicopter and glider rides and an array of aircraft and classic cars on display. Also participate in the best in show competition for prizes.

It would be great to have a presence of a few mice to show people what we are all about. Anyone who can make it, I'll get you discounted fuel for your trip home. Should be lots of fun and great flyin conditions.

don't hesitate with any questions. pm me or email me at aukerinc @ yahoo .com

Ben,
I sure wish I was in a position to come, but I am so far behind, that it would likely bite me in the butt if I took one more day off right now. Arlington was a 6 day away from home even for me, and at a cost I really afford right now.... over 1200 bucks for lodging, car and food. And I'm not even counting (nor do I want to) the cost of the 100ll for the round trip.

But I am planning to prevail on you in the "near" future to host a BAC event in Sunriver, with enough notice to get it on the calender.

I seem to remember some commitments from some at Arlington, so plan on it!

i will definately host another, smaller fly in here sometime in sept. I did get a few committments at Arlington, so now i have to. Marty said he could make it if it was in sept, either before or after the reno air races. Another event we should try to gather for, i think im going to reno. So if we can get some input on a good date or two days, we can plan this one early. Lets put the NW on the map.

So far I've got a couple hopefuls for the flyin this weekend. I know there are more people withing range. It should be a good time.

For the record, I tried to make it to the fly-in this morning. I left TwinOaks Airpark about 8:40, climbed to 9500' and headed east. Over Green Peter Resevoir I started noticing my amp meter flicking to the right. I turned everything electronic off still flicking. Looked to the right, my red transit light is blinking like crazy. Why is it blinking like crazy, hmmm, maybe the power-pack is running. Why is power-pack running, not sure, but things are starting to make a lot more sense. Still on the way to Sun River. About 5 miles east of Mt. Washington (10 minutes have passed) the red light is now solid red. I smell hydraulic fluid. I am making a 180. My pancake breakfast and plans to meet fellow BACers are shattered.

Anyway, I head back home and get the gear down (it wanted to come down before I got the idea to put it down) and land safely with no bent metal. Anyway, my mechanic is checking it out Monday, we looked at the power pack, and checked the fluid reservoir, it is full. How much more this year will my beech cost, not even at the annual.

Believe me when I say, that you have just begun to build memories (even this one) that can't be bought. Forget about the money, it always seems to work out, and enjoy what you have, something that so few ever get to experience!!

Too bad you didn't get to Sunriver, but there will be more!

Well John, I was saving a spot for you, then John from Bend showed up in his Sierra. He said he got some pics of my plane and his next to eachother. Another spot opened up and I was saving it but the third mouse never made it. Now I know why. It's the thought that counts.

The flyin was a major success overall. We had about 3000 people attend, 850 breakfasts sold for charity, 60 airplanes including a staggerwing, waco, New standard D-25, two T-6's, a T-34, a Jabiru, a pitts, and a whole lot more. The Waco won the peoples choice award which was a night stay at the resort with a free round of golf and a few other extras. We had 60 classic cars, helicopter rides, biplane rides and I got to fly the T-34, the t-6 and got a ride in the open cockpit biplane. What a day. Fun, fun, fun! We raised close to $9000 for New Generations a non-profit child care center for the local public. This will cover their bills for 4 months or so. The event was a huge success, the biggest we've ever had. Thanks to both Johns for making the effort. Even if you didn't make it, we still appreciate that you tried. Maybe next year we'll get a few more mice.

Look for a new topic coming up soon for a BAC flyin here at sunriver sometime in Sept.

Ben
