Sun 'n Fun 2016 Lakeland FL

Just found out today: if you plan to work in the type-club tent, Sun n Fun will provide you a wrist-band (that is free admission to the airshow!) for each day you plan to work...PLUS a free parking pass for those days you work! Hopefully then, we can get more folks to pull shifts at our BAC desk.

I have received several volunteers who have given me a rough idea as to when they can work. Please provide me your full name and the no-kidding days you plan to work ASAP. The events folks are really being flexible and patient with me...really want to help us out. For some reason, they need names and what shift you plan to work well in advance. Please send me your info (name and desired time slot) no later than this Friday, 18 March.

Let's plan on two hour shifts between 8:00 to 4:00. Thanks, Charley Booton, SE Director

One change to the above post. I'd like your SNF type-club shift request by tomorrow, Thurs, 17 March, not Fri. SNF staff is anxious to get the correct number of wrist-bands identified ASAP. Once again, you will be given a wristband (free airshow admission) AND a parking pass for those days you plan to work. Nuff said! Sounds like a great deal.

I plan on attending SNF - fly in Friday morning and depart Saturday after the air show. I will happily work the BAC Tent Friday and Saturday. Give me some times you need covered please.
Blue Skies,
Chuz

Hey Charley - Thurs and Fri for me. Thursday any time after 9:30 (AOPA event 8 - 9:30) and the late shift on Friday would be my preference, but I'll make myself available whenever you need me. Don't sweat the admittance band for me (I realize I'm late on this reply), that's a sunk cost. See you soon!

Thanks,
Don

Think I got you covered. Asked for a wristband for you for the week....haven't heard back yet. Talk later.

Fred, Don, Johnnyxray, Redmon, and myself all have weekly wristbands and Chuz has Friday and Saturday only. I'll devise a plan for all to hook up and get your stuff as the date approaches. I should be the first guy there, so I'll probably pick up wristbands and parking passes for everyone. Sun n fun staff expects us to work at least one shift for as many days we have passes. We will finalize the schedule later.

OK folks this is a rough tally of who's attending the Thur, 7 April BAC dinner at Manny's Chophouse (reservations for 25). Some of you actually told me, while others merely said they're going Sun n Fun, but I'm assuming they'd attend the dinner. Please confirm/deny your intentions and specify number in your party. Thanks.

I will not arrive in time for dinner Thursday. But will be at Sun n Fun Friday and Saturday. Leaving Sunday morning.

Found out a couple days ago that John Redmon can't make it, so I have a weekly wristband (free admission to Sun n Fun) for the whole week provided you pull a couple shifts in the type-club tent. I also have reservations in case anyone wants to share a hotel room. Please let me know soonest.

Charley,
won't be able to make dinner have to be back in miami by wed night or thurs morning.
fred
p.s.-where do we meet up to get wrist bands..will be going to event tuesday after lunch.

FYI, I will pick up all wristbands at the beginning of the week, so call me at the above number and I will give it to you.

Also, please return your wristband to me if you plan on leaving earlier in the week, so I can issue to someone else for the remainder. Vice versa, I might give your wristband to someone who can work earlier in the week, and give to you later.

Please be flexible and ensure you can pull a couple shifts in the tent. Once again, this is a free pass to the airshow...pretty good deal.

Rough tally on who has wristbands and when they're working:

1. Charley Booton, weekly plus parking pass, all week except Sun

2. Fred Culleton, weekly plus parking pass, Tues and Wed...please return to me for whomever can work the remainder

3. Don Scattergood, weekly, Fri and Sat...I'll give yours to someone who might be able to work earlier in the week

4. Paul Werbin, two day pass, Fri and Sat

5. Chuz Chamberlain, two day, Fri and Sat

6. Dave Singleton, weekly, TBD

7. Weekly available, recipient TBD

Any changes/additions please advise soonest.

Thanks, Booton

Most current tally of those attending the 5:00 pm Thursday, 7 April dinner at Manny's Chophouse. Address posted above. Please provide updates and specify the number in your party. We have reservations for 25 and they'll do their best to seat us together.

Also, just in, our generous president decreed that BAC will cover $20.00 per member for dinner. Sorry non-members, but perhaps an incentive to join! It's never too late.

The free passes/wristbands have already been assigned, but all attending members are highly encouraged to stop by the Type Club Tent and work a shift(s).

Please feel free to call me for those requiring (reasonable) ground transportation needs...too/from hotels/airports etc. I am driving either my pickup or a Honda Civic so can't haul too many folks at once. We'll make it work.

Also, I'm staying about 25 miles west at the La Quinta at the Tampa Fairgrounds from 5-10 April. It has two double beds if anyone needs accommodations/can share expenses. Our prez John Persinger will also be staying in the room (albeit in the roll-away cot...watchout!) 8-10 April...so it'll feel like a college dorm room before too long!

Let's have a great time and pray for good weather...forecast looks pretty good so far.

Also, one mistake above, I still have one weekly (three days or more) wristband available if someone wants to save some cash on admission. However, you're expected to work at least one shift per day.

The BAC desk in the Type Club is alive and well. It's a big white tent located just past the east security gate on the flight line with banners saying 'type club' flanking either side. As you pass through the gate you'll see a 3/4 scale P51 and some replica WWI aircraft displays. I have an extra weekly wristband and maybe more available later in the week. A nice excuse to get out of the sun, meet other type club colleagues and free sandwiches/water for those working a shift. Surely you can pull on shift or so for a couple hours!

Call me if you need vectors or questions.
