Below is a rough outline of several SE events I hope we can enjoy for the first quarter of 2017. The first and third events are regularly scheduled local EAA fly-in breakfasts that we are welcome to attend. I'll try to make those, but would love to have a member who lives nearby to honcho that gathering. If just a couple folks drop in...great, just take a couple shots of the group/airplanes and either post it on the BAC site; or zap to my phone and I can upload.
The other three are fly-ins at KCEW (I tried to host last year but only myself and Bob Schmidt enjoyed that!), the Ron Alexander Celebration of Life at Candler Field Museum and the annual Sun N Fun which historically has drawn a good number of BACers. As always, would love to have others step up to help with these events and/or certainly entertain any ideas for other gatherings within the SE region.

Military aircraft tours, USAF Armament Museum, fly-out to Sky Ranch (18FD), beach, golf, etc.
Thursday, 16 Feb, Arrive KCEW.
Friday, 17 Feb, tours of AC-130, CV-22 and F-35 at nearby Hurlburt and Eglin AFB's.
Saturday, 18 Feb, fly-out to my field, Sky Ranch/Park (18FD), for cookout at neighbor's hangar (signed hold harmless agreement required...09/27, 3,000', 122.9, flat, wide smooth grass strip open approaches...nothing like Gaston's or Abel Island...easy peasy!). Short, 9 mile flight from KCEW on 290 heading.

19 Feb, pull chocks or remain as you desire for beach, golf, partying etc!
I'll need full name, date of birth, and citizenship of all attendees by about a week prior. Myself, as retired USAF, have access to both Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field, but it's the access to the flight line and secure facilities on those bases that require advance notice and qualified escorts.

3. Annual St. Patrick Fly-in, Dublin, GA, Saturday, 18 March 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM, W.H."Bud" Barron Airport (KDBN) Dublin Georgia, EAA Chapter 1195 Annual St. Patrick Fly-In Pancake Breakfast.

4. Ron Alexander Celebration of Life at the Candler Field Museum (GA2), 25 March.
Last Aug, I hosted a small fly-in at this field whose owner, Ron Alexander, gave us a tour of his airport, Peachstate Aerodrome which is home to a youth program, flying club, Barnstormers Grill and fly-n Airpark. Tragically, on 17 November, Ron and an FAA examiner were killed in a recently restored Curtiss JN-4, Jenny. He was a good friend to many, patriot, aviation pioneer and entrepreneur.
Rwy 13/31, 122.72 (unmonitored), relatively smooth sod, 2,400' x 100', 950 ft AGL, downhill to the NW. It's located about an hour south of Atlanta and close to Griffin-Spalding County Airport (6A2) if you prefer a paved runway alternative. Several hotel chains are located in Griffin, but I would imagine most can fly to/from same day.
The Candler Field Museum is a living museum located in rural Williamson GA where old aeroplanes still fly, antique cars still drive and the sights and sounds of the 1920s era come to life every day. The terminal and main hangar represent the motif of Atlanta's first commercial airport, Candler Field, circa late '20s. Click on www.peachstateaero.com for more details.
5. Sun N Fun, Lakeland, FL, Lakeland Linder Regional Airport (KLAL), 4-9 April.
Plan to occupy the Type Club tent as last year. Will need volunteers to pull shifts at the tent. Good deal in that your admission and parking is paid for the days you work a shift. Plus, they feed you and I got a 12 pack of Bud Light last year...not a bad deal! Great chance to meet folks and compare/contrast other type clubs. Fun and friendly atmosphere. Will also plan a BAC dinner probably Thursday as has been in the past. Easier to obtain reservations before the crowded weekend. Details to follow. Last year we enjoyed great food and service at Manny's Chophouse...will try to rebook this time.
Already have a couple of volunteers who want to work shifts that week. Call or email with questions.
Wishing all of you a Happy/Prosperous New Year.
