Oshkosh 2014 -- Resources, BAC Camping, Meeting at OSH

mda

Initial Climb
The purpose of this thread is to share information about the event others may not know and to put out standing invitations to BAC members.

Will be camping in the North 40.
After I arrive, will post my row # here.
Stop by for coffee in the morning, or a frozen margarita or an absinthe later in the day.
Post your row # here and I'll try to stop by and say "Hello".

If you need airplane repairs, there is an excellent mechanic at the airport.
He's an IA who owns two BAC planes and knows them well.
He has a good parts inventory and fast access to all parts.
The business name is "Aviation Services". It's on the airport.
I've done my annual there for the last 10 years and wouldn't go anywhere else.
No, I don't get a kickback. . . . just the satisfaction that your plane will be well cared for.

I live 50 miles south of Oshkosh, near Watertown, WI. (RYV)
If you get weathered out of OSH or can't make it there by 8pm, call . . . I can probably get you set up for the night.

Excellent Mark, thank you for the resources and offer to helping needed. I will be coming in either Thursday evening or Friday morning of the 2nd weekend (based in weather).
I have talked to a few folks, but would you recommend the North 40 or vintage aircraft camping?

Unfortunately, I won't be able to bring my Beech. I'm being forced to fly up a Lockheed 12A.

assuming we get the motors on. Looking pretty slim.

I'm planning on flying into OSH after 630pm on Wed the 30th, weather permitting. Leaving out on Sun morning. Not camping though as my flying friend has gotten us a room in town somewhere. Thanks for the info above, and hope to see you there, but also hope not to need a mechanic.

Sorry, but I know little about vintage aircraft camping.
By Thursday, many of the early folks have left the North 40 and there is plenty of space for camping.
My suggestion would be to camp in the North 40 if you can park south of Rwy 9/27.
You'll be near the showers, ice, etc.
If they are only parking planes north of Rwy 9/27, go to vintage instead.

Call someone who is there ahead of you for current parking information.
Call me if you like. (phone # above)
Weather permitting, I'll fly in Thursday evening after the airshow.
