Northeast Fly-In

Around The Moon
Now that the Sierra is fixed and Labor Day will soon be behind me, I am going to start working on a North East Fly in again. Anyone want to suggest some dates?

Bob

Bob pick a date. Pick a place. Everyone has conflicts.
One suggestion gotten from the Biddeford Maine fly-in was try a mid week date.
So many of us are retired that this precludes family weekend activity issues.

Early October would be good for me.

Tom Corcoran

So...According to Corcoran. Pick a date and a place that suits you....as long as it is mid-week in early October!

Have you given up on the fly in to East Hampton next weekend?

Other suggestions
Goodspeed airport 42B
Fly in for lunch and culture at a matinee at the theatre.

KVAY
Lunch and the aviation museum

I missed out on B19 - back to Maine for round 2.

6b6 Minute Man
Great lunch at Nancy's

2B3 overnight campout at the field
Barbeque and sitting around talking about airplanes until darkness. Retire to tents, breakfast and burn out.

Any of these sound cool to people?

We never give up!

Bob Kittine gets to pick the place and time of his fly in. Anyone can post a fly in. He can confirm the Hamptons if he likes.
Some BACers will be at BACFest in Colorado beginning this weekend.

And Bob Staab... do you know anyone who might host a fly in at Sussex, New Jersey in October?
Bob Kittine is looking to post one in that area. Maybe you two could talk.

Heck, I might host one at Lincoln Park, NJ (N07) on a Friday sometime. They have a restaurant on the field and my boy lives in Manhattan so it's just a $40 Uber ride from there to see my boy for the weekend!

Hey Tom, Are you related to Barbara? I sell real estate for The Corcoran Group and joined while Barbara Corcoran was still the owner.

I have not given up on East Hampton, but gave up the date too close to the Beech Fest. Robert Staab and I have been flying together so setting up one in Sussex, could work, though there are issues with the new airport owners. The diner on the edge of the field is too small if we get a good group. East Hampton does not have a restaurant, but I could get a food truck to come. Same probably with Orange County.

Lincoln Park does have a nice restaurant. I taught there part time in the mid 80s.

Any location I would do in New Jersey or Down-State, New York, I would be coming from my apartment in Manhattan, so if someone wants a ride into Manhattan, I can do that with no Uber Fee. Depending on when you go back, I might also be available.

I have students at Warwick, Lewis Landing, Orange County, Sky Acres and Sussex. In addition to Bay Port and East Hampton on Long Island.

Bob

Montauk has a restaurant across the street, with a $20 landing fee. Or, what about Block Island and a taxi ride to town for lunch.

Block Island is a good place as long as it is before all the restaurants close for the season. I might pop over there next week and do some investigating. Not even a bad walk to town, though going back is up hill and tougher. And I need to Add Rhode Island to my map, though it is so small it will hardly show up. 09/12 or so I am off to Sanford, Maine, so a stop in Vermont and New Hampshire would add some color to the map. I believe I can get the landing fee at East Hampton Waived.

I could for sure do it at N72 Warwick. There is only a 2,150 (Listed as, but probable a little shorter) x 28' Paved Runway. The others are grass and about the same length. Over the years we have ferried people to the field though from Greenwood Lake Airport and / or Orange County.

Bob,

The car show and fly-in is at Kobelt Airport on Saturday, Sept.28th. What about we meet there? I went there a few yrs ago, lots of old cars, some decent food. I don’t have a problem going into Warwick either, if the winds are Ok.
