Lulu's near JKA

Around The Moon
Who is planning to be there besides me?

For those of you who aren't familiar with Lulu's it's located right on the Intracoastal Waterway just about next to the bridge going over to Gulf Shores and within walking distance (half mile or so) of JKA.

And there's an ILS at JKA.

Lulu is Jimmy Buffet's little sister. Sometimes he plays there.

Between swine flu and engine in my Beech, I'm not sure I'll make it. If I come, it'll have to be in the Slylane, but sure had wanted to show my little Beech off. Anyway, Lulu's is one of my favorite places, but count on an hour or more wait for a table on Labor Day weekend. (Of course you can always wait in the bar ) I don't know if 17-35 are re-opened or not, but 9-27 is a nice long runway, with ILS for 27. There are 2 FBO's on the field, since WAP has opened on the East side of 17-35. All in all, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are good places for a weekend. Paul Jones N4768J

I do not want to say "Cote Curse" but it is looking like perfect flying conditions for Saturday. I know it is the Labor Day Holiday but we all have to eat, right? Bring a relative or someone who has never flown to introduce them to what we love.

Lulu's

Got home this afternoon, my wife asked if she, my daughter, her boyfriend could come with me. I was so happy that they have decided to come. So if no weather or plane issues, I am planning on a full plane load. Looking forward to it.

Steve,

I'll listen for you on the way over. I heard you on the radio on the way to Lambert's but never saw you till we were on the ground.

Congrats on getting the wife, daughter and boyfriend to go along. My wife doesn't like being in those "tiny single engine planes." I suggested a twin but she didn't bite on that either.

We're a no show.

I had filed IFR. We took off and picked our way through to get on top of the clouds and called New Orleans approach for a clearance. They could hear me and I could hear but them but couldn't understand. We got an IFR clearance to get back into Reserve. So I got one actual approach for the day.

We'll try again another day. Looks like #2 comm is not transmitting and is feeding over into #1 and screwing up reception. We played around on the ground and with #2 turned off reception was clear on #1. So it goes.

Looks like Steve is the only plane that made it. He made it late but made it. I hope he and the family had a great lunch!

Lulu's

Doug,

Sorry you guys couldn't make it, lunch was very good. I sent you some pics for the website. We had "Sunny" our nine week old foster daughter make the trip.

My wife enjoyed the trip and is looking forward to more events. She was looking forward to meeting some of the folks, well there's always next time.
