KORF BACFest 2013 arrivals

Note that Norfolk can be a busy place at times. ATIS 127.15 will almost always say that the ILS for the long runway (5 or 23) is in use. If the winds favor runway 14 or 32 just ask for that runway when you check in to Norfolk approach on 118.90. They will almost always give you whatever you ask for.
Also.. There are some big military air bases close to KORF. They will be under the same controllers you talk to, so should be no conflicts. But be careful if you say airport in sight that you are looking at the right airport. Wouldn't be the first time...
Finally, there is only one FBO at KORF so if they say to taxi to general aviation, it means landmark. Usually on 121.90 ground frequency. Occasionally tower 120.80 will keep you on their freq if things are slow. Really a simple airport layout but do feel free to ask for progressive taxi if you don't feel like you can figure it out yourself.

Sharmalie and Steve will arrive about 2 pm on Wednesday, if you guys are floating back from tangier about that time, hopefully we can share a ride back to BACfest HQ.

Steve

Hi Folks,

Spoke to Ken Cook last night - we both should be arriving Thursday AM barring any unforseen circumstances... I think Mike DeSantis should be arriving then as well... So that's two Sierra's and a Sundowner... Someone should capture the ATC tapes of Ken's flight - LOL - he's always a character on the radio - okee dokee !!!
:)

Regards,
Scott

Weather looks great for the next few days. We have been working on ground transportation issues but no easy solution. I will let Landmark know when I am available to help. The Landmark desk will help arrange transportation to hotel. The hotel has a van be ut wants to charge per person. I am working on a group rate per trip but they wanted a schedule more precise than we could supply. We will work out details as we can.

I'm thinking that anyone that wants to meet for dinner can meet at a great local place near the hotel. 6:30 pm work for you?

The KORF ramp is looking like a Beech Party already! 14 of us out for seafood dinner tonight. See the rest of you soon.

If all goes as planned, I should arrive commercial KORF tomorrow (Wednesday) at 1645. What is the best way to get to the hotel? Do they have an airport shuttle?

1645??? I arrive at 1645. Marty is picking me up. We are catching dinner, before the FAA Wings Program. Then we are going to the hotel. At least that is the plan, as I understand it.

I just made the coffee. Margie will get out of bed when she smells it. After usual prep, off to the airport and maybe Tangier Island before 1pm. Cool and clear here in Boston right now. 5:49am.
I'm filed IFR.

For those arriving today the hotel has a van that will pick you up for $12.00 each. No luck on group discount, I tried. There seems to be plenty of cars in thethe group too so try your BAC friends too.

I've got Paul's vehicle (at least until some Yankee takes it from me this afternoon! If you need a ride, call me at 540-294-2374 and I'll burn Paul's gas! After that, call Corcoran! Yeah, let's see how far that gets ya!

I arrived last night and have a 7 pax van. If anyone need transportation, give me a call on my cell phone. I'll be at the airport terminal tonight at 5:00 pm for one pick-up. Nothing much to do until then, so call me if there is a need.

Yeah, that's the plan Bill. I'll be there to pick up you and Dan. We go to dinner and then to the seminar.

Marty

Planning to leave 1L0 tomorrow morning at 0800. Stopping at KALX to have Rap take a look at my mags. Should be at KORF mid to late afternoon or early or late evening or the following morning depending on what the doc finds with the mags.
