We had a great time at Harris Ranch. Richard and Ginger Wolf arrived first and acted as the official greeters. I arrived 7 minutes later (I looked at my GPS when I heard them call the pattern). Next was Chris from Watsonville who fought the early morning turbulence over the foot hills to join us. We obtained a table for six in anticipation of additional arrivals. After ordering we were joined by Rick Spann and his lovely wife. They had to wait for the coastal fog to burn off prior to leaving their home base. We had a wonderful lunch, good conversation and the food was delicious. We had a few photos taken which will be posted in the Gallery section later today.
Thanks Bob! My first fly-in. Enjoyed meeting other members. Harris Ranch is a good spot. It got me thinking about sponsoring a fly-in at Watsonville (KWVI), my home field, in the future. There is a derelict aerobatic Musketeer on the ramp we could go gawk at. The new restaurant is pretty good too.
Chris-
Do set up a fly-in! It is fun and easy. Plus, unlike the great state of Utah, you have some members in your area to draw! There are four Utah members and other than Jason here in the Salt Lake valley, the next nearest member is Blaine down in Cedar City, UT which is almost 200 miles from Salt Lake!!! Even further is Dean way down in the south part of Utah. See the map below to get an idea:
I've tried fly-ins over the years but other than Jason and me, we have had no attendees. The distances are too far to pull from neighboring states especially for a "fly-in, have lunch and fly-home" event.
So, please set up a fly-in, enjoy the camaraderie, take photos and share it all with us in the "hinter-lands!!!"
