Gastons - 2008, Saturday, November 1st

According to the PT records there were 8 planes in 2005 and 2006 and 4 planes in 2007.

I don't have anything to say how many were there in 2004. But I was there. Would have been my first ever grass landing.

Sadly it doesn't look like Ann and I will make it this year. Voltage regulator went out and I have had difficulty finding a replacement. Finally ordered and due to arrive Friday, but not sure my A&P will get it installed before the weekend. Hate to miss out. Gaston's is a great place for a fly-in.

Jay you are correct, 6 planes in 2004. I can't remember his name, but the local guy described himself as looking like Papa Smurff and he had a disabled Sport in a hangar at Mountain Home, I believe.

We will plan to be at Gaston's 2009.

One of my "ifs" just popped up. I've been informed that I won't get my plane back for another week. Bad deal for us, as we were really looking forward to Gastons. Have a drink for us.

Dan and Ann

Dan-
That's too bad! But, look at this way, you and Ann avoid the paparazzi!!!!

Keep a low profile!

(870) 431-5202 is the number to Gaston's, they have always been happy to come to the airport with the van for a pickup. I'll be at Gaston's by 7pm and would be able to give you a ride back to town after dinner if you need one.

Thanks
Jay

Alright, who ordered the thunderstorms and rain?

I have been loking all morning for alternatives, but cannot find any. The forecast for VFR Saturday and Sunday don't look good either.

Y'All have fun.

Bummer - I was sure hoping to make it up there and see some of my new and old friends... but the new Prop Governor won't be in until the middle of next week. Sorry to miss out again. Have fun all - hope the weather turns out nice enough for a good turn-out!

post: hopefully she'll be good to go for Seguin... if not, that one's close enough to drive to. Ahhh, Ground-based transportation... how quaint.

I can't make it this year either but the big three I plan to make in 2009 are Oshkosh (reservations and such already placed), Gaston's and BAC Fest in Gatlinburg. Maybe I'll get enough PT miles to come in fifth!!!!

Safe flying to all and have a cold one for moi!!!!

The RellyCrew is at Gaston's. Skye is already terrorizing the squirrels, after warming up on Frisbees.

I an SO looking forward to not working on planes for a week....

Gonna have to pass this year folks. The fog is on the RW and the man in the restaurant said to call back at 9am to see "if the RW was soft from the overnight rain"......I'll have to pass until next year. See you hopefully before that a near future flyin.

Well, the runway was fine when I landed late yesterday; and it doesn't look like there wasn't any significant overnight rain (doesn't look like any to me). The light fog has been lifting pretty rapidly; not much there at all right now. The forecast for Flippin is ceilings over 12,000.

Sunny Beech sure is feeling lonesome out there. Surely at least one other BAC airplane will join him!

WTH (what the heck, not the other one)
Are you the only one there? Was hopping to get down there but decided to spend one weekend at home for the month. Really wanted to get down there for some fishing as I have a bunch of trout gear from Colorado. Best bet for us was always a slow troll with bobber, 8 foot of line and nice big fat worm. Salmon eggs was second. Take pictures for us.

There are four BAC families here so far; just Sunny Beech on the ramp. The rest drove.

Bright sunshine outside.
